Hi friends!
I’ve got a treat for you today! May’s Background of the Month stamp is heavenly in that Unity Samp Co. kind of way! It’s filled with lovely, detailed roses and abstract leaves, PERFECT for coloring!!! To shop the May Background of the month, click here.
I stamped the background image onto a piece of white cardstock using black ink. I stamped it a few times in order to get a solid image. Then I colored the roses using my Copic markers in RV14, RV19, RV69, R85, R83, R01, YR16, Y19, Y15, BV01, BV04, and BV08. For the leaves, I used YG17.
Next, I went back in and inked around the flowers.
I started with a light shade of brown at the center of the card. Then I went in with darker shades around the edges and finished with black around the very edges. I love the dramatic effect!!! But then, I did what lots of you will cringe over – I tore the finished panel in half at a diagonal! Yes, I hear you all cringing, but stay with me because the end result is marvelous!!!! Once I tore the paper in half, I inked up the torn edges with black ink. I trimmed a piece of patterned paper from the Grit & Grace set to 5.5×4.25 and adhered that over a white card base, and then I adhered both pieces of the torn roses panel over the top, being careful to leave a bit of the patterned paper to show through! Below is a close up of what it looks like!
I love love love the result!!! I finished with a sentiment from scrap sentiments that Unity had sent me with my subscription order along with golden twinkle foil strips behind the sentiment. I love that the sentiment reads “Love is the bridge between you and everything” because the tear in the middle of the card panel looks like a bridge uniting the background of roses!
I’m so happy you could join me today! The Background of the Month is part of Unity’s Subscriptions. To learn more about how you can get a new stamp shipped to your home at a discount each month, click here!
