Hi friends!
July 4th is one of my favorite holidays! It’s warm outside, it’s a patriotic holiday, and we’re usually on vacation! So, my card today is really getting me excited for the upcoming holiday! I’ll be using June’s Background of the Month and Refuge stamp!
I stamped the background of the month, which are tiny stars, in black ink. As an option, you could stamp this background and heat emboss in gold, which would be so pretty! I created the stripes by masking areas off on the card panel with masking tape and inking between the tape in red and blue distress oxide ink. I left the white section alone. When the tape was removed, my card panel looked like a patriotic flag with stars and stripes in red, white, and blue!
Next, I trimmed the card panel along with a piece of black cardstock slightly larger, and then adhered the layers back together with the piece of black cardstock lying between the 2 layers of the card panel (you can see what I mean in the photo above). Then I splattered water over the ink to get that blotchy look that distress oxide inks are good at providing! I finished with a stamp from Refuge that, to me, was the perfect sentiment for this holiday. The feather was colored in shades of blue with my Copic markers.
As I mentioned earlier, this would look AWESOME if you were to heat emboss the stars in either gold or silver!!!
