Hello Unity Friends! It is Natasha back on the blog today and I am excited to share a background with lots of color and texture! Today I inked up the AMAZING Artistic Pallet stamp set! So let’s get started!
I started with a piece of Mixed Media Cardstock. I enjoy this paper for inky techniques that use water, but not too much water. I started by placing the AMAZING Artistic Pallet stamp set onto my stamping platform. I then inked up the background using Hero Arts Reactive Ink cubes. I place the ink pad directly onto the stamp, adding color in various sections of the stamp. I then added water onto the stamp by spritzing the ink with water from my distress sprayer. I then stamped onto my mixed media paper. I continued to repeat this process using various colors of ink until I had the color and texture I was looking for. I think the key element here is to continue add color and layering to build the texture on the background. I then set it aside to completely dry.
Next I chose a piece of pattern paper from the Newsprint Greetings paper collection. I die cut the paper using a heart die from my stash. I then die cut 2 more hearts to place behind the Newsprint layer. I adhered all the layers together using liquid glue. I like adding layers to die cuts for added dimension without the bulk of foam tape. Next I distressed the top layer using a combination of distress inks, as well as distress embossing glaze.
Next I die cut 3 floral/stem branches using a Sizzix/Tim Holtz die from my stash. I die cut these from Mixed Media Cardstock. I then added color using a Lindy’s Gang Moon Shadow Mist. Once they were dry, I added more texture by added Embossing Glaze to each of the die cuts. I completed the card by trimming the background panel using my Deckle Edge Trimmer. I distressed the edges using my distress tool and distress ink. I adhered all of the layers onto a top folding card base. I added a piece of cheese cloth and a sentiment strip.
I had a lot of fun putting this card together! I will be back next week with more Mixed Media inspiration!
Have a great week,
Natasha
