Hey friends!
I LOVE to build a collage on my cards, and Unity’s selection of patterned paper and abstract stamps lets me have fun with the process! Today I’ll be sharing a collage card using June’s White Kit, called Hydrangea Love, Grit & Grace patterned paper, and Eiffel Grunge stamp!
First, I stamped the flower from Hydrangea Love in black ink onto a piece of white cardstock and then colored it with my Copic markers. I used BV04, BV01, BV13, BV08, YG95, YG07, YG67. The stamins were colored in YG01. Once the coloring was complete, I stamped around the flower with the abstract elements from Eiffel Grunge stamp set, trimmed the panel with my deckled paper trimmer, and inked up around the flower in shades of golden brown, moving from lightest closest to the flower to darkest at the edge of the card panel. Below is a closer look at the details in the flower!
Next, I went to work on building my collage. To me, a collage means building elements onto a panel. I like to use coordinated patterned paper to build the collage because the paper is made to work together. I also like to add my own stamping to the images. For this card, I trimmed one piece of paper from Grit & Grace with my deckled paper trimmer, and then tore another piece of paper in half at an angle. I inked up the jagged edge of the torn paper and adhered that over the base paper layer. Then I inked up around the entire card panel. I also took a tiny piece of the same patterned paper, tore it and inked it, and placed it in the lower left part of the flower panel. I adhered doilies behind the flower panel and grunged that up with brown ink. I adhered the flower panel on an angle over the other paper panel and then added the sentiment.
I just love how this turned out! The flower is the central focal point, but it’s complimented with all kinds of things happening around it! And you don’t need much to build a great collage effect!
