Unleash the Joy of Butterflies!

Hi friends! I don’t know about you, but I feel like butterflies are so majestic and spiritual! So, I love to get my hands on butterfly stamps and color them. Unity released a butterfly Background of the Month stamp for July, and I couldn’t wait to color this stamp! I’ll also be using Copic markers and an embossing folder. Unity’s background stamps tend to be very detailed, so there isn’t much needed to create the perfect card using their background stamps!

I stamped the background image in permanent black ink onto a piece of 5.25×4.00 white cardstock. When I use my Copic markers, I like to use Neenah Solar White cardstock and a permanent black ink. The black ink doesn’t smear with the alcohol markers, and this cardstock is truly the best for a smooth blend!

Once I stamped the image, I colored the butterflies in shades of purple (V09, V17, V06), teal (BG49, BG13, BG32), Yellow (Y17, Y15, Y11), orange (YR09, YT04, Y19), and red (RV29, RV17, RV14). I wanted this panel to be COLORFUL, and I think I achieved that goal!

Next, I die cut about 1/3 of the way through the butterfly panel with my rectangle nesting dies, along with a piece of black cardstock slightly larger. I grabbed a favorite embossing folder and embossed the center butterfly panel. Then I adhered both layers together. I adhered the outer part of the butterfly panel over a 5.5×4.25 white card base and placed the center butterfly panel and black cardstock over it, being sure to match up the butterflies.  I finished with a sentiment! I love this look!!!

I truly enjoyed the experience of coloring these lovely, detailed butterflies! For more information on Unity’s Background of the Month membership, click here. Thanks for stopping by!
