Watercolor on Vellum With Pansy Praise

Watercolor on Vellum With Pansy Praise

Hi crafty friends!

It’s Amber here and I am excited to be back on the Blog today with a simple watercolor card on vellum.
I am a fan of all florals but this beautiful stamp called Pansy Praise was a must-have the minute I saw it. I decided to ink it up on vellum – and in order to color it I used a tried and true trick keep that color from moving out of the image – heat embossing.

I used Versamark to the stamp first to make sure I would get great coverage with the Versafine ink in Onyx Black – I LOVE this ink because you can just stamp and heat emboss with it in Clear and it works like a charm!

After heat embossing the image I added my color to my flowers with an Aqua Painter (I am a fan because I have been known to knock over glasses of water while crafting – these little tools have saved me a ton of frustration and supplies).
My flowers were colored with Tim Holtz distress inks in Wild Honey and Squeezed Lemonade … and the leaves are Twisted Citron. This really was an easy image to color. I also splashed a bit of Tumbled Glass around the flowers as well.

The vellum image was then cut out with the Scallops and Arches nesting dies – I added a white cardstock panel cut out in the same size to make the image stand out.
I have been asked before what adhesive I use when I craft with vellum and I use a generic glue runner that just doesn’t show. You can strategically “hide” your adhesive too, behind the image and on the edges, I guarantee no one notices but you 😉

This vellum layer was popped up to add dimension and I added some simple but pretty linen thread.  I pulled out a piece of beautiful patterned paper from the Calico Country Paper Pack that was sitting on my desk that coordinated perfectly.

I love the Scalloped and Stitched Sentiment dies – they work with just about every sentiment, including this one. Everything coordinated quite nicely.
As an added little embellishment to complete this card, I was lucky enough to have that cute little wooden butterfly in the goodie bag of freebies in my last order. (Aren’t those the BEST?! I feel like it’s an adult crafty version of a treat bag you get at a bday party! ha)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Peace Love n Ink
