Hello Crafty friends, today I am up on the blog sharing a fun and easy mixed media project! I had fun combining a couple of mediums, distress inks, and watercolor pencils to create a floral card using the Sweet as Honey stamp set! So let’s get started!
I started with a piece of Canson XL watercolor cardstock slightly larger than an A2 panel. I stamped the Sweet as Honey stamp set onto the watercolor paper using Distress Ink. I added the ink directly to the stamp, then spritzed the stamp with water, then stamped the floral onto my paper. I also added a bit more water to the panel to create more texture in the ink. I wanted that loose/messy watercolor look. I followed the same process for the stamping of the floral images. I allowed the panel to completely dry.
Once the panel was dry, I colored the floral and leaf images using Distress watercolor pencils. I used a water brush and applied the color from the brush to my paper. I continued to build layers of color, allowing each layer to dry between colors.
Once the watercolor was complete, I chose a stencil from my stash. I added the distress watercolors to my stencil in the same way as I did above (using a water brush). I then lightly spritzed the stencil with water and placed the stencil directly onto my card panel. I loved the subtle color and texture the stencil provided. I repeated this process a few times. Next I added some text from the Eiffel Grunge stamp set. I stamped using distress inks, as well as a light spritz of water.
I completed the card by distrtessing the edges, adhering the panel to a top folding card base, as well as a few splatters, and sequins to complete the card! I chose a sentiment from the Sweet as Honey stamp set.
Thank you so much for stopping by! I will be back next week!
