Hi friends!
Today I want to share a card made simple with basic coloring and Unity’s patterned paper! I’ll be using Calico Country patterned paper as well as the lovely Sweet as Honey stamp!
First, I chose the patterned paper that I wanted to use with this card. I created a background by tearing 3 sheets of patterned paper from Calico Country and then adhering them together to form a 5.5×4.25 base. I love to tear the paper rather than using a paper trimmer because it has a unique collage-like vibe, and you can easily see all the patterns working together! You just can’t go wrong tearing the paper and be sure to save your scraps for the next card!
Next, I stamped the floral image from Sweet as Honey in permanent black ink onto a piece of white cardstock. I colored the flowers with my Copic markers in shades that were similar to the patterned paper. I used YR02, YR16, YR18, and YG17. The bee was colored in Y19. Once the coloring was finished, I trimmed the image down with my deckled paper trimmer and placed it over a piece of black cardstock just slightly larger. Having a black cardstock as a frame behind the flower panel helped it to stand out from the background design.
I added brown ink and gold paste to the edges of the colored card panel and the background panel. I adhered the flower at an angle over the patterned background and then added a bow to the upper left corner using mummy cloth. I applied the brown ink to the ribbon and scrunched it a bit by applying water to it. I finished with a sentiment from the set, adding gold paste to that as well! I tucked a tiny scrap of patterned paper from Calico Country behind the sentiment!
I love how easy it was to pull this card together with the help of Unity’s patterned paper! They have a HUGE selection of paper that you can find here. Thanks for joining me today! To shop the products used in this post, click on the description to be linked to the Unity Stamp Co. store!
