Warm Wishes

This card design draws inspiration from the great outdoors, using rich, earthy tones and rugged elements to craft a holiday card with a masculine feel. I love the layered look of the distressed ticket dies, stamped with evergreen trees and paired with a subtle ombre forest tree background. The tags slide in and out of the woodgrain envelope for a bit of interactive fun.

Creative Tips & Inspiring Techniques:

 

• Distressed Ticket Dies: These give the card a weathered, vintage look and are ideal for masculine themes. Stamping trees, mountains, and even a crescent moon adds a peaceful and warm touch.
• Ombre Stamping: By gradually shifting ink colors from light to dark, I created a soft forest tree line backdrop that gives depth to the card while maintaining a natural, outdoorsy vibe. A stamping platform, like the MISTI, is helpful with this technique.
• Layered Design: Combining the tickets with ink blending and a woodgrain envelope gives the card a rugged, layered appearance, perfect for masculine cards.
• Rustic Elements: Twine enhances the rustic, handcrafted feel of the card and adds a fun element behind the sentiment.

Bonus Card

This card was my first attempt gone a little wrong. I do love how it turned out anyway! The only thing I regret is covering up that beautiful stamped tree background. I originally stamped it towards the bottom of the card. I had one too many elements to fit in and the background was lost. To recreate this look, I’d use the same background paper but ink blend the bottom with an ombre of those beautiful brown inks instead of stamping the trees. You could move the trees up but I’m afraid they would still be covered up by all the die cut elements.

Bonus Ideas:

 

• Splattered White Ink: To mimic snowfall, I splattered watered-down acrylic white paint across the background, adding texture and a seasonal feel.
• Layered Distressed Tag: Add depth and warmth by layering a tag featuring that amazing cabin scene. This cozy detail enhances the rustic charm of the card and creates a focal point with a touch of nostalgia.
• Hidden Gift Card Holder: Take it to the next level by slipping a gift card into the pocket behind the tickets. Perfect for holiday giving with a personal touch.
• Not Just for Holidays: that sentiment would be great for any occasion to send your best wishes.
