Hello! Andrea here this month with your Mixed Media inspiration. Now I am new to mixed media but I have some fantastic supplies in my stash I am excited to dust off and use. You may see my card and think “hmm looks more like a clean and simple card to me” and you are partially correct. Come on a crafting journey with me.
I started out with my Shimmer Spritz sprays to make a frosty background. I kept layering color until it was saturated.
I was even fancy and got out my heat tool for drying mediums. It does not however melt embossing powder. Not for me anyway LOL.
So far so good. I am feeling like a mixed media artiste at this point. Now I am stamping my image using embossing ink.
I am using Colossal Snowflake which is one of my favorites. Make sure you prep your background with an anti-static powder so your embossing medium only goes where you direct it.
I decided to add some white splatter but did not add water to my white paint which resulted in clumps, smears and splotches. Yikes. I tried to dab it up which resulted in a bigger mess. I sent a pic to a friend who gently suggested my background was too dark. What to do now. Fussy cutting to the rescue! Look at that shimmer behind my snowflake though! It’s gorgeous.
I cut out my snowflake and paired it with a background I made from an embossing folder I think I’ve had since the dawn of time.
I grabbed my Cheerful Prancing stamp set to use the Merry Christmas sentiment. I embossed with clear ink and used distress embossing glaze. So pretty. I added a few acrylic glitter dots for some bling and here is my Mixed Media clean and simple card LOL!

I hope you enjoyed my foray into mixed media. I’ll be back next week with more inspiration.
Happy Crafting
