Welcome, Gaylynn here. It’s winter time and this penguin greeting card is fitting for the season or for the holidays. To get the look, watercolor with dye ink pads to add luscious interest to your cards. Then, pair it with layers of coordinating cardstock and colors. Also, the supplies are noted below.
Additionally, this card is great for winter, Christmas, holidays or even to lend support.
Sentiment:
Warm hugs.
Helpful tips
-
Prepare an A2-sized side fold card base from blue cardstock, 4 1/4″ x 5.5″ folded.
-
Stamp the penguin and the sentiment using black alcohol-friendly ink onto different sections of white cardstock.
-
From the bottom layer to the top, die-cut or trim a background frame layer from white wood patterned paper, a watercolor panel a little smaller, a smaller solid light blue frame layer and a small penguin panel to fit on top. All are about 1/4″ size difference on each side.
-
Die-cut the sentiment plus a coordinating frame layer in blue cardstock.
-
Add a touch of color to the penguin. I used Copic markers.
-
Onto a palette mat, press a teal ink pad and also a blue ink pad in two different sections of the mat. Then lightly spritz each separately with water.
-
Onto the watercolor panel, add ink smooshing using the color from the dye ink pads. Pick up color by pressing a corner of the watercolor cardstock panel into one of the colors and again on the opposite corner with the other color. Spritz more water to move the color.
-
Heat set.
-
Optional, smoosh the corners again to get more watercolor detail.
-
Heat set again.
-
Finally, adhere all of the layers and a little heart over the card base.
Next, here is a closer look at the finished card.
