Hi friends!
Welcome to Membership Thursday! You may have seen March’s Kit of the Month already, but if you haven’t click here to see it! For today’s card, I’m using the railroad design to create a rather mystic scene! And I accomplished this with some easy ink blending!
I stamped the image with black ink onto a piece of white cardstock. Back to my card, once I stamped the image, I colored the railroad tracks and rocks with my Copic markers. Then I colored the remaining areas with dye inks.
TIP: A little about the products I use for a successful ink blend: I use this black ink so that it won’t bleed when I ink blend, and I use Neenah Solar White cardstock because it blends well for me! And I use these blending tools and these mini ones! These help to achieve a smooth blend everytime!
I used 4 shades of blue ink to create the sky at the end of the railroad tracks. I wanted the sky to look a bit like a storm brewing in the horizon! Then I inked up the grass in a few shades of green, with the darkest shade nearest the tracks.
TIP: I build color slowly when ink blending, starting with the lightest shade first and moving to darker shades. I may go over the area more than once to get a smooth blend. But, at times like with this card, I don’t want a smooth blend because skies aren’t smooth! So, keep in mind what you trying to accomplish with ink blending!
Once the inking was finished, I trimmed the panel with my deckled edge paper trimmer along with a black piece of cardstock that was slightly larger. I adhered both layers together so that the black created a nice frame for my panel. Then I used Let’s Be Off script stamp and stamped it over a colored background panel that I had on hand. I adhered both layers over it so that you could see the background peeking out from behind the focal point! I
The last step was to add white splatters to add a little “snow effect” to the finished panel! I also added a sentiment from the KOM, inking up the edge of the sentiment for a grunge look.
