Hello and welcome. I’m Gaylynn, and I’m happy to share my card project here on the Unity blog. It is a birthday cupcake shaker card in red and teal. It was super fun to create this interactive card. I used Copic marker coloring and ink blending. Then, I made a shaker frame to hold sparkling confetti.
This handmade greeting card is sure to bring smiles. The supplies are linked below.
Sentiment: Make a wish. Happy Birthday!
Helpful Tips:
-
Prepare a white A2-sized card bases, 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ folded horizontally.
-
Trim or die-cut a dark red cardstock layer 4″ x 5 1/4″.
-
Die-cut the center of the red panel in the next smaller rectangle size to make the narrow frame window.
-
Trim or die-cut a white rectangle 4″ x 5 1/4″.
-
Onto the trimmed white panel, stamp the cupcakes and the sentiment in Copic-friendly black ink.
-
Color the cupcake panel with your favorite markers. I used Copic markers.
-
Add light teal ink blending around the stamped panel edges.
-
Optional: Add a heart accent with the sentiment.
-
Make a shaker layer by adhering an acetate layer behind the red panel of the same size.
-
Add narrow foam tape behind the acetate along the edges.
-
Sprinkle small confetti in the center of the stamped panel.
-
Layer and adhere the acetate frame panel over the stamped panel.
-
Adhere the shaker element to the card base with extra tacky double-sided tape.
