Hi friends!
Welcome to Membership Thursday with me! I love to play with shine via embossing powder, and today I have a beautiful card to share using this technique! I’ll be using Hero Arts Iridescent Purple embossing powder, April’s Background of the Month, black ink, dye inks in shades of teal and blue, and pearl sequins!
This background stamp is a bold flower, and I envisioned it as shimmery and shiny! I stamped the image with black ink onto a piece of white cardstock. Next, I stamped the image again using clear embossing ink over the original image (I use this embossing ink) and applied the iridescent purple embossing powder over it and then heat set it. The result is a shiny deep purple color, which was exactly the look i wanted!
The embossing also works as a resist, so I went back over the image with 2 shades of blue ink to add color around the flower. Then I wiped the ink that was on top of the flower. You can see in the photo above how the embossed image resisted the ink! The blue ink helps the dark purple pop off the page!
I trimmed the image to 3.75×5 and placed it over a black piece of mirrored cardstock sized 4×5.25 and adhered both onto a white card base sized 5.5×4.25.
The last step was to add a sentiment, which I chose from April’s Kit of the Month because it was so fitting for this card (which I’m giving to my mom for Mother’s Day). I framed the sentiment in black to coordinate with the rest of the card. Then I added a row of pearl sequins to the stamin of the flower for added interest.
TIP: You could skip the step of stamping with black ink and just stamp the image with clear embossing ink and apply the powder. You could also apply 3 or 4 layers of embossing powders to add thickness – that is a really cool look!
