Hi friends!
Welcome to Membership Thursday! I’m starting things off with May’s Background of the Month and a little coloring fun. This time, I’m bringing in a focal image from May’s Kit of the Month and coloring it to match that pretty background.
First, I stamped May Background of the Month onto white cardstock using permanent black ink. It’s important to use a black ink that won’t bleed when you color with alcohol markers. You can find the ones that I love here and here. Then I colored the cobblestones using a variety of alcohol inks. I encourage you to get playful with your color selections, as that could get really fun! If you need ideas on colors, refer to a color mood board!
After the coloring was finished, I stamped an image of flowerpots from May’s Kit of the Month onto white cardstock using the same permanent black ink. Then I colored the pots using the same alcohol markers as I used on the background. I also added shades of brown beneath the pots for dirt and blue clouds above pots. Then I trimmed above and below the image with my deckled edge paper trimmer and inked up the edges with brown and black ink for dramatic effect.
I adhered the flowerpots over the background panel and finished with a sentiment from the Kit of the Month and also added glossy accents over the flowers for shine and interest!
I really love how cohesive this card is by using the same color palette on both the background and the focal point!
