Hi there. Welcome to the Unity blog. I’m Gaylynn and I am excited to share a fun set of cards. Here is a simple project idea for you. These are snarky masculine cards for Dad in 3 easy layouts using minimal supplies. I used rubber stamping, color cardstock, Copic marker coloring, die-cutting and fussy-cutting. Plus, I added fun strips using a paper trimmer.
See the project supply list below, along with a full-length video tutorial of the process.
Helpful Tips
-
Prepare three A2-sized card bases from white cardstock, 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ folded.
-
Stamp a text background twice onto two large, smooth, mint cardstock pieces. I used a dark teal ink pad.
-
Die-cut or trim both of the stamped backgrounds using a large deckle rectangle die or trim 4″ x 5 1/4″.
-
Trim one of the stamped backgrounds in half diagonally.
-
Cut 8 long accent strips from mint and white cardstock.
-
Glue one strip on one edge of each of the triangle-cut backgrounds.
-
Glue 6 accent strips diagonally onto half of the rectangle background panel.
-
Trim off excess strips from each card.
-
On smooth white cardstock, using black alcohol-friendly ink, stamp the sentiments and three icons (cooler, beer or soda cans, cell phone).
-
Die-cut or trim the sentiments.
-
Color the icons and then fussy cut them. I used Copic markers, but use what you have.
-
Assemble the cards by adhering each background layer, the sentiments and the icons.
First, this is a fun pun sentiment.
Sentiment: Now that I’m an adult, you seem a lot cooler.
Secondly, here is another funny one with a Father’s Day sentiment.
Sentiment:
Happy Father’s Day! Thanks for everything you do. I could never repay you. LITERALLY.
Finally, that’s not all. Look at this one. Can you relate?
Sentiment: Love you. {even when you forward weird emails}
Additionally, this is a closer look at this trio card set.
