For today’s card, we’ll be doing an easy mixed media technique using June’s Uniquely Unity Kit and patterned paper from Opulent Blooms!
To begin, I chose a grungy design from the Opulent Blooms paper so that my color palette was chosen. I trimmed the paper pattern to 5.5×4.25 and placed it over a white card base of the same size. I love using patterned paper for the background, it’s easy and the paper is SO beautiful!
Next, I stamped the image of the girl sitting with her kitty and flowers onto a piece of white cardstock using permanent black ink. I colored everything in shades that coordinated with the Opulent Blooms paper using my alcohol markers!
Once the coloring was finished, now it was time to do the mixed media portion! I tore the paper directly above and below the image by hand so that the edges were jagged. Then I went over the edges with 2 shades of brown ink, creating a frame around the image. I left the center of the image white so that it looks like a halo around the girl! This technique is so fun and works quite well with Unity’s patterned paper!
I adhered the girl over the patterned paper background and then added the sentiment that says, “Forever by Your Side!” The sentiment was grungy with ink around the edges as well!
I applied a gold gel-pen around the kitty’s neck to look like a necklace and also to the center of the flowers in the bouquet! I love to add little details to my finished card! Then I applied gold paste in various places on the card! Those details make all the difference in your finished product! And they are great for mixed media!
