Summer Sweets

June 27, 2025 - by Julissa Sargo

Summer Sweets

Happy Friday! We’ve had a heatwave by us, so let’s end the month with some sweetness and these cute critters from the June 2025 Kit of the Month by Unity Stamp Company! If you aren’t familiar with Unity’s memberships, the Kit of the Month is one of four different memberships. Let’s bite into this set…

To start, this squirrel is so cute holding a little, itty-bitty watermelon. So how could I not pull out the Slices of Summer Layering Stencil set from the July 2023 Whit Kit {but now you can buy it separately}. I used Distress Ink colors: Saltwater Taffy, Mowed Lawn & Black Soot to create this juicy background! I trimmed that down to 5.25″ x 4″.

Next, I used green card stock and the Scallop & Circles Dies in the center of green card stock cut to 5.375″ x 4.125″. This way I can mat the Watermelon stenciled background onto the green card stock, but still get the circle cut out from it’s center. I then cut black card stock to 5.5″ x 4.25″, but before adding this layer to the back, I die cut the word “thanks” three times from the Happy Hello die set.

Now for the final steps… I color the squirrel and fussy cut her out. Copics used: xxxxxxx . And I stamped the sentiment and used the Scallops & Banners die to die cut the sentiment. Using thin foam tape, I adhere all the layers. Now, let’s make another one!

For this sweet bunny, I used a Waffle Flower – Oversized Fruit stencil to create the pits for the strawberry. For the strawberry, I used Festive Berries Distress Ink and Black Soot Distress Oxides to have the black ink on top. I die cut it using the Diagonal Stitch Die Set from the December 2023 Whit Kit.

Next, I used green card stock and die cut a piece and trimmed it to fit the width of the card. I fussy cut the edge of the green card stock to make it look like the leaves on top of the strawberry. I stamped the sentiment on the upper right side of the card front after adding the strawberry top. I added all the layers and adhered it to a green card base.

Last, I stamped the bunny and colored him in using Copics: W3, W1, W00, G17, G25, R29, R08. Once fussy cut, I added foam tape behind it and added it to the top of the card front.
