Good morning! Heather here popping in with a card using the newly released Sending Up Something Beautiful – you might have seen floating around on Facebook or in some Unity emails – I did something a little different on this, and combined a Copic colorless blender with watercolors. I played a little with different colors, but found I liked the effect of the colorless blender the best – but feel free to experiment and see what you like best! It just seemed to soak in the watercolor a little deeper creating a bit of a shadow effect.
NOTE: be careful with your Copics depending on what ink you use. There are a few inks that are Copic and watercolor compatible, but my favorite watercolor ink – Versamark – is not, so I was careful not to touch the ink since I didn’t want it to bleed and get on my brush tip and ruin it.
Here is the video and you can see what how it works:
My biggest frustration on this card is that I didn’t wait for the green to dry before coloring the hearts – so the red bled out of the lines. Grrr…maybe I’m the only one who noticed, and I thought about redoing it, but finally decided to just leave it imperfect – and be okay with it!
And now – I spent a couple minutes perusing the Unity {show & tell} group on Facebook – can I just say WOW!!! That group has grown SOOO much in the past couple weeks, and there are some jaw-dropping gorgeous cards and amazing talent hanging out in there! I just grabbed a couple of them to share with you here – but if you aren’t part of the group yet, I highly encourage you to go jump in! Click HERE to head over and join – it is pretty amazing!!! Here are just a few (of MANY) cards that jumped out at me – feel free to follow the links to leave these ladies some love!
Now, I’ll be the first to admit I love making cards – and I flat admire anyone who does things off the page with stamps. This canvas by Lee Ann literally made my jaw drop – AMAZING!!!
This one by Mandi – besides perfectly sweet and adorable – BRILLIANT use of the rope for the swing!
And Helen did an STUNNING job with this wood burning project with the Donna Downey Big Poppies – another amazing work of art!
And one more – this coaster that Sharon made is GORGEOUS!!! The texture is amazing!!!
Thanks for stopping by! If you are curious about any of my supplies for my card above – I have a full list on my blog HERE. Have a wonderful day!
