Hello, it’s Gaylynn here with another installment of my Watercolor Wednesday series. Today, I am sharing a tropical themed beach watercolor handmade card with stamping.
The background of this beach watercolor card is the focus of this post. I share how to capture the look of the beach using stamping, embossing and Sakura Koi watercolor. For added interest, the seashells were pre-stamped and watercolor was added to them using distress markers. I used them as accents.
Sentiment: May every sunrise hold more promise and every sunset hold more peace. #birthdaywishes #iloveyou

For this project, I made a quick video tutorial for this tropical beach watercolor card. It includes instructions along the way throughout the video. However, a written process follows below.

(See also the video tutorial for this project.)
To begin, stamp and emboss a background and sentiment onto watercolor paper. I used ColorBox ink with Ranger clear embossing powder.
Heat set. Stamp and emboss accent sentiments if you want. I cut them into tiny flag tags.
Add a layer of water. Then add one color at a time. Blend gently where they meet. I pre-mixed watercolors to get the shades I wanted.
Finally, blot puddles gently with a paper towel or baby wipe. Heat set. I added pre-stamped and watercolored seashell accents.
Here is another look at the tropical beach themed card.
