Hello Unies,
When I was thinking of a challenge this month two things came to mind. April Showers Brings Mays flowers kept ringing in my head, and that made me think of Whitney and how much she loves all things floral, and since this is her delivery month. It just seemed right. So, this month I want to see your cards using all things FLORAL! Lets give Whitney lots of pretty things to look at.
Today, I have a quick 10 minute video for you on how to do simple watercolor, coloring on Flowers. Below, you will find quick instructions to follow along.

Floral watercolor card
The Details
For this card, I used a new stamp by Graciellie called I SHALL NOT WANT. This is a corner stamp, and I love using them with real large sentiments. It fills the space nicely. I used a sentiment from I AM WITH YOU, another set from Gracillie. So, what your gonna do is stamp your image with VERSAFINE CLAIR ink, onto water color card stock. It is VERY IMPORTANT to dry this image for a bit. Once colored, your gonna trim that down to mount on a black card base. Add some gold splatter and sequins. For the second card I trimmed it down even smaller and added a layer of gold.
Helpful hints to revisit.
Less is more when it comes to watercolor, try using less water for more concentrated color, more water less color. Add your darker color to the bottom of the petal (or center) this will give you some depth. Now if your a true beginner go ahead and do solid coloring it will still look pretty. A light wash of ink over the whole image is fine too, but to take your coloring to the next level try adding those deeper areas of ink. You can start with a dry image, like I did in the card above, or you can go ahead and do a very light wash of water over the image. Play, the only way your gonna learn and get better is if you try it. The worst thing that will happen is you throw a way a sheet of paper.
This photo gives you an idea where I added the color, and the second is when I just washed over it with water.
I hope this helps, I hope you give it a try. I can’t wait to see what you all come up with .
This challenge will go until the end of May. Be sure to enter your card in the challenge album on the Unity Show and Tell Facebook page, I can not wait to see what you all come up with. Unity has THE BEST floral stamps.
Happy Crafting,
