Hi friends,
I hope your month is going well for you! Today I want to share a lovely and simple holiday card using December’s Background of the Month, called Grit and Glint Snowflakes! I love how grungy and vintage this stamp is, and it’s perfect as a background or as a focal point!
I stamped the background in black ink and then applied shades of blue and teal ink over it. I finished by applying white and gold splatters and then trimming the card base with my deckled paper trimmer. I adhered it over a black 5.5×4.25 card base. You can see all the detail of the background of the month stamp in the photo below!
The next step was to add a sentiment that didn’t compete with the background. I chose Itty Bitty Holiday Spruce stamp! I stamped it in black ink and then colored the tree in similar shades as the background, keeping the color throughout very consistent. I trimmed the sentiment using Make a Tag die and also trimmed a piece of black cardstock just slightly larger than the sentiment. I added a hole in the tag and put black and white checked ribbon through it. Then I adhered it to the card base at a slight angle.
If you notice, I added layers of black throughout the card to help the black in the background stamp to pop a bit more!
