Hello fellow unies! Do you take the time to do what makes your soul happy? It makes such a big difference in our everyday outlook of life! And today I’m sharing a lovely, vintage card with a reminder to do what makes your soul feel happy each and every day! I’ll be using February’s Kit of the Month, Background of the Month, and watercolors.
For my card, I’ll be using the butterfly image from the kit! Stay tuned for future blog posts by me this month featuring the other beautiful images from this set! And, at the end of my post, I’ll share how you can get the Kit of the Month delivered to your doorstep at a discount! Now, onto my card!
First step was to stamp the February Background of the Month in permanent black ink. Then I added color using Hero Arts liquid watercolors in Terracotta, Aqua, and Deep Ocean. I chose those colors because they look so natural against the grain from the background stamp! Once the water coloring was finished, I trimmed the panel with my deckled paper trimmer, sponged some Black Soot ink around the edges, and adhered it to a 5.5×4.25 white card base. Next step? The beautiful butterfly!
This butterfly is so detailed that it doesn’t need much help to finish it! Similar to the background, I stamped the butterfly in permanent black ink and then used the same watercolors to color it, with the addition of Purple. I added a bit of Terracotta around the butterfly as well, to frame it and also to bring forth that Terracotta color from the background! Then I die cut the butterfly panel and a piece of black cardstock using my nesting circle dies. I adhered the 2 layers together, placed it over the background, and finished with a sentiment from the Cutapart Sentiment Strips! These sentiments are perfect for a quick card with a lovely sentiment! All you have to do is trim them!
I hope you enjoyed this simple, yet gorgeous card! For more information on how you can get either of these kits mailed to your doorstep at a discount each month, click here! Thanks for stopping by!
