How thrilled I am to be a guest on todays blog.

I am sharing cards I made using a stamp set that has a solid stamping piece. Typically, you would stamp a top open layer on the solid layer, but as you will see on the leaf; I smeared the ink on the solid layer only! For me, this makes for such a beautiful outcome with a solid leaf stamp especially.

The card I am highlighting today was made with the stamp set Petal Play. The sneak peak card you you see in the corner was made with the set To Me You are Perfect. Both have wonderful solid stamping pieces that you can layer colors on so beautifully.

   

Here I stamped my trio of colors and blended them in with a small blending brush. You could also use your paintbrush or your finger!

 

This is the solid leaf stamp (and die) that I smeared the green ink with my finger to give a gradient color look. As you can see, I also added gold and white splatters. One is cut out with a die, and the other with scissors. Unity offers Petal Play (part of the May 23 Whit Kit) as a stamp only set, as well as, a stamp die combo.

The final details really make the card! ie the darkening of the outline in various areas, the splatters of color and swipes of gold and white etc.

How marvelous it is to see a card come together so beautifully!

Hello, friends! Welcome to Novembers Tuesdays Thoughts, with Bobbie Sue.

Do you have any stamps in your stash that are intimidating so much that you’ve never used them? Hey, so did I! Turns out, it wasn’t as intimidating as I had thought. As a matter of fact, I think it may become a favorite of mine!

On both cards I used the flower images from To me you are Perfect, a sentiment I received in a grab bag and a verse from Graciellies Hope & Strength. What I thought would be intimidating is the full background of the flower as I knew it needed to be full of color. Now I want every flower stamp similar to this design! Go figure. 😉

 

I swiped my Stamp Market Dye inks on the flat surface of the flower stamps blending two similar colors for a variation of color. Absolutely loving the result!

Truly happy to say this has encouraged me to go through my stash and pull out another set I’ve not used because of intimidation. Hoping it does the same for you?!

Hello, friends! Welcome to another Tuesdays Thoughts with Bobbie Sue.

I prayed for inspiration for this months post. I was reminded of the uplifting post-it notes KSBJ would encourage it’s listeners to leave in various places. This sparked a thought to make encouraging tags to tuck away in a purse, a pocket, a book etc. Perhaps even tucked away in a grocery isle!

How wonderful it would be to come across such a tag in an unexpected place. Please remember, it does not have to be a faith based tag to be a blessing someone!

I can not find my set of Unity tag dies or I would have absolutely used them for this project. I have included the link for them here if you would like to purchase a set of your own!

This first set of tags uses images and sentiments from a past UU “grace will lead you” and a Front & Center set “I am with you“.

This next set uses 2 of my favorite Angie Girls, “Dream Girl” and “Anna Girl“. The message these sentiments give is truly inspiring. Imagine the impact they could have on someone’s day.

I was most excited for this months blog post and am eagerly awaiting to see your makes inspired by this theme!

Hello again, friends! Welcome to my July Tuesdays Thoughts with Bobbie Sue, Inspired by.

This months inspiration is Butterflies. Moving back to the country this past months has allowed us to be back among all forms of fauna. Including butterflies! I will never forget a butterfly I found during one of our visits here at the farm. I came across a lethargic butterfly and was able to offer it water. Watching it close up as it unwound its mouth part (proboscis) and drink was a memorable experience!

Doesn’t the life stage of the butterfly just fascinate you! I have heard the 4 wings of a butterfly are a representation of their 4 stage lifecycle; egg, caterpillar (larvae), chrysalis (pupa), adult butterfly (imago).

The intricacy of its design and seemingly delicate make up of its body are truly fascinating. Did you know butterflies wings, although very fragile, are actually very tough as they need to withstand strong winds and mid air attacks from predators.

Unity and their designers have created some of the most spectacular butterfly images for us to enjoy in stamp form. Did you know that Unity and their designers have created over 200 butterfly designs??  Some sets include several butterfly stamps.

How many sets do you have?? We just moved back to our farm in Arkansas or I would have so much fun going to count how many I own. Putting this on my list of todo’s!

Butterflies are probably one of the most visually appealing species God ever created. The various sizes and families, the magnificent colors and overall beautiful complexity of design.

There are too many to pick or even narrow down, but some of my favorite butterfly stamps Unity offers are Written in the Wings, Grow. Evolve. Transform, Wings and Petals Ledger, Petals & Wings, Allow Yourself, Moments of Bliss, Butterfly Endearment & Forest Butterfly. See, toooo many to pick a favorite!

Below I have used Wings and Petals Ledger, and Butterfly Endearment.

This first card uses both the sentiment and image from a sweet set designed by Lisa Arana in 2015 called Butterfly Endearment.

I fussy cut the butterfly and popped it up over the original image. I love any stamp that has a bit of script behind it!

This next card uses the big and beautiful Wings & Petals Ledger created by Sandhya Iyer. As well as, sentiments from the Layered Cake Builder set.

I am loving fussy cutting the Happy from the Cake Builder set and popping it up on my cards!

Hello, friends! Welcome to my June Tuesday’s Thoughts with Bobbie Sue, Inspired By. This months makes are inspired by my 5 uniquely individual and beautiful granddaughters. I’ll be using Garden of Whimsey; Aria Marie for each.

The two cards, directly below, you’ve most likely seen in the SnT group a few months ago. They resemble my granddaughters Jessa & Jentri. Precious sisters that belong to our son and his wife we run our family farm with in Arkansas.

The others I made specifically for this blog. Following the birth our 4 grandsons, we were then blessed with 5 granddaughters! Now I have a darling girl card to represent each of them!

I wish I had layered with Unity’s scallop die on one or two more of the other cards as I did on the top panel of the vertical card shown here below. This set is surprisingly in stock! It sells quickly each restock so I encourage you to go grab it now!

This next card was created in the likeness of my granddaughter Yaylani. She has the most beautiful brown skin and gorgeous dark curly hair.

The sentiment on this card is from the set Joy in your Dreams. A must have set!

This one is made in the likeness of my granddaughter, Fenley. She has the same head full of gorgeous curly hair and spectacular glasses! She is also starting to get the cutest freckles like her brother, Johnathan.

This adventurous girl loves to play outside. Especially where it is dirty and covered in critters (a heart after her own grandma) so I gave her lots of ground to play on in this scene!

I meant to also put the butterflies “flying path” on this card, too! Hopefully I will remember to go back and do that!

I was not able to complete the card for our 5th granddaughter, Syvalee. Unfortunate circumstance keep us from seeing her and I just couldn’t bring myself to complete her card. I will eventually… The situation is quite painful, but we know one day God will restore and use for good what has caused such division and pain. For that I’m hopeful…

Go back and look at all 4 cards and study how placement of the flowers completely changed the scenery on each one. I love how we can bring our single layer cards to life by a simple placement of a stamp!
