All About Backgrounds with the Advent Calendar Day 22 ~ December Challenge

 Hello there crafty friend!
Crystal here from Tawny Owl Paperie with inspiration for the December challenge over in the Unity Show & Tell group. This month it’s All About Backgrounds!! I’m also sharing inspiration for the 2022 Advent Calendar.

Made with Love Card

Today is Day 22 for the Advent Calendar and the stamp is a cute heart encircled by the words ‘Made With Love’. I’ve paired up this cute stamp with the recent new release called Heart to Heart.

 

Not sure where to start to create a background? Grab some pattern paper! The beautiful sweater pattern paper I used is from the amazing December 2022 Whit Kit called Getting Cozy. Oh boy are the papers in the Getting Cozy {paper pack} just the coziest!! I stamped the hearts and ‘xoxo’ with Lumberjack Plaid, Festive Berries and Worn Lipstick Distress Inks.

 

Next I splattered all over the background with Liquid Pixie Dust. I then die cut the background with the largest stitched rectangle die from the Scallops & Rectangles {nesting dies}. The cute ‘Made with Love’ heart was stamped with Lumberjack Plaid Distress ink and then copic colored very simply with R20, R14, R27. Finally, I die cut the heart and a red mat using the two smallest circle dies from the Scallops & Circles {nesting dies}. Adhered the circles together and then I popped them up on the card.

All About Backgrounds with the Advent Calendar Day 8 ~ December Challenge

Crystal here from Tawny Owl Paperie with inspiration for the December challenge over in the Unity Show & Tell group. This month it’s All About Backgrounds!! I’m also sharing inspiration for the 2022 Advent Calendar.

 

Rudolph the Reindeer Card

Today is Day 8 for the Advent Calendar and the stamp is an adorable reindeer. I’ve turned this cutie into Rudolph with a little masking on his nose. Rudolph is the star of this card while all his reindeer friends play in the background. His shiny red nose is getting ready for Christmas Day!

 

The A Little Christmas Carol background stamp was used to create this background. It was inked up with the Vintage Photo Distress Ink, but I stamped it off once on a post it note to lighten it a bit. And then I stamped the reindeer in a triangle pattern which draws the eye through the background and gives it balance. I also used an impression plate to give the background some fun texture.

 

Next I distressed the edges of the background with some of the Vintage Photo distress ink. It shows some of the texture around the edges from the impression plate. I copic colored Rudolph very simply with E21, E23, and E27. Finally, I die cut Rudolph and a red mat using the two smallest circle dies from the Scallops & Circles {nesting dies}. Adhered the circles together and then I popped them up on the card. The sentiment is from the cute Magical Holiday Itty Bitty stamp. To finish off the card, I added a bit of glossy accents to Rudolph’s nose.

All About Backgrounds with the Advent Calendar Day 1 ~ December Challenge

 Hello there crafty friend!
Crystal here from Tawny Owl Paperie with a new challenge for December over in the Unity Show & Tell group… it’s All About Backgrounds this month!! I’m also sharing inspiration for Day 1 of the 2022 Advent Calendar!! I just love Unity’s Advent Calendar! It gets more amazing each year.

 

Holly Days Card

The sweet and delicate ornament stamp is the first Advent Calendar stamp. I colored it very simply with just a few Copic Markers: C00, C2, R14 and G24. And then I die cut it with the smallest circle die from the Scallops & Circles {nesting dies}. Next I mat it with a red circle die cut from the next largest circle die from the set.

 

This month’s challenge is all about the backgrounds though! I started this background with an ink smooshed card front that I had actually made last week during the video for my Mixed Media Background card. Ink smooshed with Twisted Citron and Evergreen Bough Distress Oxide inks. I stamped the beautiful Holly Days Background with Mowed Lawn and Pine Needles Distress Oxide inks.

 

What makes this background even more fun is the texture. After I stamped it with the Holly Days Background stamp I placed it in a woodgrain embossing folder and ran it through my Big Shot. I then lightly rubbed the Mowed Lawn oxide ink over the embossed background. It gives the background a bit of dimension. I think you can see some of the texture in this photo. I finished off the card with a few white rhinestones and a sweet sentiment from the Christmas Wishin’ stamps.

Love You More ~ Advent Calendar ~ December Sketch Challenge

 Hello there crafty friend!
Crystal here from Tawny Owl Paperie sharing another card using the fun Sketch for this month’s challenge over at the Unity Show & Tell Facebook group! This week I used the Day 23 stamp from the Unity 2021 Advent Calendar to make a pretty Valentine’s Day card!

 

The Day 23 stamp is too cute!! The font and placement of the words is perfect! I created a fun ink smooshed background with the Day 22 stamp that was heat embossed with a white embossing powder. I used Spun Sugar, Kitsch Flamingo & Candied Apple Distress Oxide inks.

 

The soft pinks, white, and red with the bold black accents helps to bring the eye to the beautiful focal sentiment.

 

The second sentiment from the Love is Grand {December 2015 Sentiment Kit} is heat embossed in white on the black card stock.

Holly Jolly Holiday ~ Advent Calendar ~ December Sketch Challenge

 Hello there crafty friend!
Crystal here from Tawny Owl Paperie sharing another Holiday card using the fun Sketch for this month’s challenge over at the Unity Show & Tell Facebook group! This week I used the Day 9 stamp from the Unity 2021 Advent Calendar and oh, boy… did this card take a crazy turn!

 

The Day 9 stamp is so cute… I paired it up with the Krafty Season {paper pack}.

 

Cream card stock was used to mat my layers. The neutrals give the card a soft, delicate palette.

 

The wreath was stamped very simply with the following Copic Markers:
Branch ~ E21, E23, E25
Leaves ~ YG11, G24, G46
Berries ~ R14, R37
