No Coloring Christmas Card

Hello again! We are still in the midst of an amazing sale at Unity Stamp Company and today, I’m pullout out some fun stamps at first, I just wasn’t sure how to use! Check out the Background Builder Sets 1 & 2 by Ann Butler Designs used in this “no-coloring Christmas card.” In addition to these fun stamps, the new Say It Big Holiday Die set brings it all together… and I popped in a little “Merry” from the “Heart of Christmas” stamp set for that last bit.

To create this pattern, I pulled out some olive and red card stock to create this festive card. Using a super fine detail embossing powder in gold. Because some of the stamps have a lot of detail, the super fine embossing powder allows for those details to show, but you can also stamp these strips using your favorite holiday inks too!

I trimmed each strip out easily and adhered them to a white piece of card stock. I then used a rectangular die cut to cut the background to size. Next, I adhered it to a slightly larger piece of gold card stock and then onto the white card base.

For the sentiment, I used the Say It Big Holiday dies and cut out the Christmas in the same gold paper, but because and die cut the shadow in white card stock to bring all the colors together. But it can’t just say “Christmas”… so I pulled out my new favorite holiday stamp set, “Heart of Christmas” for that itty bitty “Merry.” And in order to make it pop, I used white embossing powder on the same red card stock and tucked it under the Say It Big sentiment.

Look ma, no coloring!

Now, if you didn’t know, there are also holiday versions of these Background Builder stamps that you can do the same thing with… but I thought I’d show you how fun and multi-purposed these are too!

God Has a Plan

Hi Unity family. It’s Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules on the blog today, and I’m sharing not only a card, but some feelings. It’s been a tough week for creativity and I just had to sit most of the week with my feelings. I created things, but just couldn’t see them together. I moved everything aside and decided to make what I felt.

I pulled out a heartfelt stamp set designed by Ann Butler called Brody’s Love. The words in this stamp set are so moving and meaningful, they helped express what was heavy on my heart. I wanted the card to be natural and organic so I used some mixed media paper that had texture to it.

For the background, I used the Patience stamp set, but rather than using regular ink, I tried coloring the stamp with Karin markers. These watercolor markers have so many great uses. I colored the leaves with the Olive Green marker and very lightly misted the stamp before applying it to the paper. It allowed the stamped image to be rustic.

To add more texture to the card, I first splattered watered down perfect pearls in copper in the background and die cute hallow leaves in a copper metallic paper and tucked it under the die cut sentiment. Using foam tape behind the sentiment and the black layered background, this added more dimension to the card.

This card was made with a lot of love and heartache. My best friend lost her father earlier this week to this horrible Covid virus. Although we know he is no longer suffering, we just were not ready to let go. I wish there was more that I could do for her, for her family. This is hard. We’re all going through hard times, one way or another. Let’s just do our best to support each other in any way we can. Today more than ever.
