Bible Journaling Interactive Flip-Up Watercolor Art Panel

Hi friends.  Welcome to the Unity blog.  I’m Gaylynn here.  Bible journaling is on the menu for today. One of the ways that I love to create is adding art to my bible margins. Here, I incorporated inspirational stamping and watercoloring. This bible journal page includes an interactive flip-up watercolor panel. This is a fabulous way to use stamps and crafty supplies already in my stash. Also, it is such a calming process and very enjoyable.


The products featured are from the Held In His Hands stamp set. Also, the Bible that I use has margins for writing or art. It is called My Creative Bible KJV. I have included the project steps, a video and supplies below. As always, use what you have to make similar projects or cards.

 

To begin, here is a look at the finished project.
Scripture: Come to me all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

 


Helpful Tips:

  1. Stamp the main image and the sentiment onto the smooth side of two different pieces of watercolor cardstock, using black waterproof ink.

  2. Die-cut the stamped sentiment panel using Scallops & Banner {nesting dies}. Then trim the top to fit your journal page.

  3. Watercolor the stamped image panel using watercolor pencils and flat watercolor brushes.

  4. Heat set between different watercolor sections.

  5. Once dry, trim the stamped panel a little bigger than the stamp size, leaving the left 1/2″ uncut.

  6. Score from the left side at 1/2″.

  7. Die-cut the sentiment panel using Scallops & Banners nesting dies that fit inside the margins.

  8. Position the image and sentiment panels in the margins, allowing the large panel to overlap the print

  9. Adhere extra tacky double-sided tape to the back of the left 1/2″ of the image panel and onto the back of the sentiment panel.

  10. Position, layer and adhere the panels onto the Bible margins. Allow the larger panel to flip up and down to see the print underneath it.

Beautiful Sacred Flight Tag Idea

Hello there and welcome to the Unity blog.  I’m Gaylynn.  Today, I share a versatile Bookmark Tag or Bible Journaling art.  Stamping and art can be used for many kinds of art projects, like these ideas and more. This large 3D moth is perfect for a bookmark, gift tag, Bible Journal, or art journaling. It features an inspirational sentiment perfect for the Psalm 43:4 page in My Creative Bible KJV.

I made the beautiful moth stamp 3D with curved wings and fussy cutting. The supplies and a short video are linked below.

Sentiment:  Let your light lead.

Helpful Tips

  1. Stamp the large butterfly and sentiment onto smooth white cardstock using alcohol friendly black ink or ink for use with your markers.

  2. Color in the moth with your favorite markers. I used Copic markers. The colors are in my supply list.

  3. Fussy cut (cut out) the moth and add dark gray around the cut edges.

  4. Score the moth on each wing, fold up the wings, then curve them using a pencil or pen

  5. Add narrow foam double-sided adhesive to the back center of the moth.

  6. Die-cut or trim a large tag and tag frame layer in a wonky fashion using patterned and solid papers.

  7. Die-cut the sentiment.

  8. Punch a hole at the top of the layered tag. Then, add a die-cut reinforcer, the sentiment and cording.

  9. Layer the tag with the large 3D moth.

Bible Journaling Foldable Art Embellishments

Hello and welcome to the Unity blog.  It’s Gaylynn.  Today, I am sharing bible journaling foldable art page embellishments made from vellum. This is a way to add artwork over the scripture with a hinge effect. Also, it showcases a folding feature so the page can be read yet still contain pretty decoration. The steps and supplies are noted below.

Additionally, I added Copic marker coloring, stenciling and colored pencils for the existing bible page art.

Helpful Tips:

  1. Find the bible page fitting for your stamps or art.

  2. Stamp the focal point onto heavy vellum cardstock with permanent all-surface ink like StazOn and dry completely. Optional, use your existing art or decoration.

  3. Color the opposite side of the vellum stamping. I used Copic markers. (The stamped side of the vellum will look softer than the colored side.)

  4. Trim the art down to the size of the image and/or sentiment.

  5. Score a 1/4″ fold line on the edge of the art that corresponds to the side of the page where you want the art to be located. (Fold the art back and forth along the score line.)

  6. Repeat for the sentiment.

  7. Stencil a sun ray onto each art page using distress oxide ink blending in two colors.

  8. Use colored pencils to color in any existing bible page art.

  9. Add extra tacky double-sided tape along the scored edge of each art piece.

  10. Finally, carefully position and adhere your art to the bible pages, allowing one end to fold back and forth.

Bible journaling fun fold tag art ~ Luke 23 31

Hello.  Gaylynn here. This project is Bible journaling fun fold tag art with a vintage finish.  This one incorporates stamping both onto cardstock and onto the thin bible pages. Adding art to bible pages adds beauty and interest.

Helpful Tips:

First, to create a Bible journaling fun fold tag, find the page most suited for your art or stamping.  Then, onto white cardstock, stamp the church and the sentiment with room to fit onto a trimmed tag.  Next die-cut or trim the stamping as a flag-shaped narrow tag.  Then, color in the stamping.  Also, hole punch the top of the tag and add cording.  Then, score a fold line on the edge of the tag from top to bottom.  Next, add score tape or extra tacky double-sided tape to the tag fold section only.  For a page background, stamp with chalk ink, write or add ink blending along the page border.  Finally, place the tag onto the page border and flip the tag back and forth to view the bible words.
Optional, use the fun fold tag as a bookmark without adding adhesive.

Bible Journal Art ~ Coloring 3 Ways

Hi there, it’s Gaylynn.  For today, I am featuring Unity Stamp Company stamps with bible journal art.  I show a way to add stamping and color to bible pages.


For this example, I show three ways to add color to the thin pages.

Sentiment:
Joy to the world.  The Lord has come.

Helpful tips:
In summary, to incorporate bible journal art, choose the colors and color mediums.  Note, for these pages, I used ink blending with distress oxide ink pads, Copic markers and colored pencils.  However, use what you have.  To begin, add color to fine areas like the preprinted letters using colored pencils.  Then, add color to the page backgrounds using ink blending.  I used three shades.  Next, add any stamping onto white cardstock using alcohol friendly ink, if you color with Copic markers like I did.  Note, most ink & markers will bleed through the thin pages.  Therefore, I like to stamp, color and fussy cut (cut out) my stamping for use in bible journaling art.  Finally, adhere the trimmed stamping to your bible page(s).

Bible journal art with stamping, chalk watercolor & Copics

Hello, it’s Gaylynn.  Today,  I am sharing techniques for bible journal art with stamping along with coloring using Copic markers and Prima chalk ink for watercolor.  

For this bible journal art with stamping, I chose a leaf border in chalk ink along with the Unity stamps.  This is great for including the men in our lives and especially Fathers and sons in bible page art.

Sentiment:
When life gives you more than you can stand, kneel.

Helpful tips:
These are helpful tips for bible journal art with stamping and other mediums.  To begin, find an open area or margin in your bible to add the sentiment, the guy and an added stamped border.  Then, protect the pages underneath with a scrap piece of paper.  Next, stamp the sentiment plus color the guy using Copic markers onto card stock.  Also, fussy cut (cut out) the guy and die-cut the sentiment circle.  Then, using chalk ink, stamp the leaf border.  Also, using a narrow paint brush and a bit of water, blend chalk ink within the leave for light watercolor.  Next, heat set the chalk coloring.  Finally, adhere the sentiment and the guy panels using flat double-sided tape over the leaves border, to finish.

 

The chalk ink does not bleed through to the back of the page.  You will see a shadow of the leaves on the other side, but it does not damage the back of the page art.
