A Thought Flew By ????

There’s something so magical about when color leads the creative process… and this card is a perfect example of that.

For today’s project, I’m featuring the April 2026 KOM-panion stamp set – A Thought Flew By, and let me tell you… this sweet, wide-eyed butterfly absolutely stole my heart. But what truly set the tone for this card was the color palette.

???? Color Inspiration

I took a little creative detour over to Pinterest and searched for Distress Ink color combinations, where I stumbled upon a beautiful blend by @amyrysavy of Prairie Paper & Ink. The soft mix of pinks, purples, and muted greens instantly spoke to me—and I knew it would be perfect for creating a dreamy, whimsical background.

Those same hues didn’t just stay in the background… they inspired the coloring of the butterfly as well, tying the whole card together in a soft, cohesive way. I love when everything feels intentional yet effortless.

???? Building the Scene

The star of the show is that adorable butterfly perched on a delicate leafy branch. By placing it against the softly blended background, it feels like a tiny moment captured in nature—gentle, quiet, and full of charm.

To add a little extra interest:

  • I incorporated subtle splatter for texture using the same color Oxide inks
  • Added a few sequins for sparkle
  • Framed the design with a patterned card base to keep things soft and balanced

???? Sentiments That Do It All

One of my favorite things about the A Thought Flew By stamp set is how versatile the sentiments are.

The phrase “just a surprise note” works beautifully on the front of the card, setting a light and thoughtful tone. But what makes this set extra special is that the sentiments can easily carry through to the inside of the card—making it simple to create a cohesive, heartfelt message without overthinking it.

It’s the kind of set you’ll reach for again and again when you want to send a little love “just because.”

Sometimes all it takes is a soft color blend, a sweet little image, and a simple sentiment to create something meaningful. Cards like this remind me that even the smallest gestures—like a “just because” note—can brighten someone’s entire day.

Hello Pup

I couldn’t resist pairing the new Look Up Pup stamp set with the classic Over the Rainbow stencil, and honestly… they were made for each other. That sweet pup looking up at the butterfly already tells a story, so adding a bright, cheerful rainbow behind him just brings all the happy vibes together.

For the background, I blended bold rainbow colors using the stencil, keeping the transitions soft so everything flows smoothly from one color to the next. It creates the perfect playful scene without taking attention away from our little pup. I colored him in warm browns with soft shading to keep things cozy and natural—just enough detail to make him pop against that bright backdrop.

The card came together with a stitched/scalloped rectangle frame for a polished look, and I layered the “hello friend” sentiment to add a bit of contrast and sparkle. The black “hello” grounds the design while the script “friend” adds that fun, shiny touch. And of course, a couple of tiny butterflies to tie everything together and keep the eye moving around the card.

I love mixing new releases with older favorites like this—it keeps your stash feeling fresh and gives those classic products new life. Plus… rainbows and puppies? Always a win ????

Create to Destress

Hello crafty friends! ???? It’s been a little while since I last shared a video (all the way back in December 2024!)—but I’m back today with something truly special. I’m so excited to share my brand-new video: Create to Destress with Unity Stamps.

In this video, I walk you through the full step-by-step process of creating a beautifully layered card featuring the A Monarch Echo stamp set, which is part of Unity’s August 2025 Kit of the Month. ????

This project was not only fun but also incredibly calming, and I hope it inspires you to take some time for yourself to create and unwind.

Contrary Colors

Happy Friday! It’s Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules and I’m kicking off June with this giant luna moth featured in the new Sacred Flight stamp set in the latest release for the In the Light Series. As the days go by, we’re are still in need of supportive stamps for one another and this stunning image is captivating, but the real hold are the loving sentiments in this kit. I really was inspired by the bright light green of the luna moth and wanted to find a contrary color to pair it with and came up with this bold pink/purple color. Let’s get inky together.

To start this card, I first die cut white card stock using the largest stitched deckled die and stamped the “Let Your Light Lead” sentiment on the lower left side using VersaFine Clair ink.

Going from light to dark, I blended Kitsch Flamingo, Picked Raspberry and Seedless Preserves Distress Inks middle to the top to create this bold contrary color to the light lime green color to the luna moth. I made sure not to add any ink by the sentiment.

Next, I stamped and colored the luna moth using Copics: G05, G03, G12, E25, E51, E50, Y26. Once done coloring, I fussy cut the moth leaving a thin white border.

Before adhering the giant moth, I added some splatters of gold Perfect Pearls to the background by mixing some Perfect Pearls gold powder with water and using a small paint brush to splatter on the background. Be careful not to get splatters on the sentiment.

Before cleaning off the brush with the gold Perfect Pearls, I added a little gold glitter on the brown spots of the moth and the feathery antennas.

Using thin foam tape, I adhered the moth and using liquid glue, I adhered the card front to a light green card base. Obviously, the size of this moth doesn’t allow the card to go into the envelope, so you can always trim it, or you can make a custom envelope.

Arching into Spring

Happy Friday! It’s Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules fluttering into spring with the new Flutter & Fur Stamp set. This sweet image is just perfect for the new season!  And today, I’ll share how I used the Scallop & Arches Nesting dies to create a clean 3D effect on this card.

I started by stamping the sweet trio and using Copics to color them all in.  I used purples for the butterfly that would coordinate with some old patterned paper I was using (trying to use up my old stash).  Using the same large stitched arch die, I lined up the bottom of the bunnies’ paws, but before running it through the Big Shot, I popped the ear over the die so that it wouldn’t cut it. As an additional effort, I only put the top cutting plate to cover what I’m cutting and don’t let it press the ears. {I hope that makes sense.}

When adding the bunnies to the arch, I used thin foam tape and adhered it to the corner. And I layered this onto a floral patterned paper and another coordinating solid colored paper.

In addition, I added some chipboard ephemera that coordinated with the paper and the theme to add even more dimension to this card.

Do you have a stash of backgrounds? Let’s make a tag | Mixed Media Thursday

Hello Unity friends!  It is Natasha here on the blog today!  Do you have a stash of backgrounds in your craft space?  I love making backgrounds and went through my stash to create today’s project!  For today’s project I am using the beautiful butterfly from the Let Adventure set as my focal image!  So let’s get started!

I started with a gelli print from my stash.  I die cut the background using a tag shaped die.  Next I stamped the butterfly using Archival Ink onto white collage paper.  I allowed this panel to completely dry.  I also stamped the butterfly onto hot press watercolor paper using VersaFine Ink and heat embossed the butterfly using clear embossing powder. Next I watercolored the butterfly using my watercolor brush markers.  Once the coloring was complete, I fussy cut the butterfly and set it aside.

Next I adhered the collage paper butterfly onto my tag using collage medium.  I then added stamping onto the tag using elements from the Let Adventure set.  I also added the text stamped image from Soul Mail into various parts of the background using white pigment ink.  (I allowed the panel to completely dry overnight).  Next I chose a few elements to add onto the tag for texture (film strip die cut, deli paper gelli print, cheese cloth).  I then adhered all the layers together using a mix of foam tape, as well as liquid glue.  I added a sentiment from Unity to complete my tag, as well as some twine at the top.

Summer Celebration | Mixed Media Thursday

Hello Crafty Friends, I am excited to be back today to share a handmade tag for Mixed Media Thursday!  Today I am celebrating the start of my summer and I am super excited!!!!  Yesterday was my last day of school and I am ready to relax with my family, garden, relax by the pool, and of course crafting!!!!  So let’s get started!

I started by creating my tag base using a tag die cut and hot press watercolor paper.  Once the paper was die cut, I inked the background using Distress Oxide Ink in Shabby Shutters and Chipped Sapphire.  I layered the ink, as well as added water droplets to the background to add texture. Once the ink was completely dry, I added collage paper to sections of the tag by ripping the paper and adhering the paper with collage medium.  I allowed the paper and collage medium to dry.  Once it was completely dry, I added more texture using Lindy’s Gang Starburst Spray.

Once the sprayed background was completely dry, I added droplets of spray to the background by removing the bottle top and using the nozzle to add the color.  Next I stamped the butterfly image from the Let Adventure stamp set.  I stamped the butterfly image two times, once onto the tag background using archival ink.  I also stamped the butterfly onto a background from my stash.  I then trimmed the butterfly out and set it aside.

Next I stamped texture onto the background of the tag using several sets: Love & Wisdom Background, Magical Motif, and Time to be Happy Again.  I also stamped hearts onto a small tag from the Tiled Letters stamp set.  I then inked the edges of the tag using Black Soot Distress Ink.  I completed the tag with a piece of cheese cloth, then adhered the butterfly with foam tape, as well as a summer sentiment from Unity.
