Summer Bag

Happy Friday!  Today we’re changing it up a bit and not using paper! ???? Yep… I said it, no paper!  Hi everyone, I’m Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules and today I moved the paper aside. and pulled out this canvas pouch I found in my closet full of random things and though, let’s ink it up!

Because of the size, I was originally thinking of using one of the new slimline stamps, but thought this fun hippie chic Summer Girl stamp seemed more fun for this project.   I stamped her using StazOn ink.  Not sure if that was the best choice because I was using alcohol inks, but I just chose to be careful when coloring.

I started with her boots, and realized I really needed to use a lighter touch to avoid the bleeding of ink as you can see here at her feet.  It was minor, but luckily, I learned right away.  Feather the ink if you choose to use a marker.  Another alternative might be to use watered down acrylic paint?  If I find another one of these, I might try that.

To add a little texture to. this colored image, I added some gold glitter Stickles and used the  Nuvo Glitter pen to color in the centers of the flowers.  This fun image is super bright and vibrant and really gives that summer vibe.

What’s great about Unity Stamps is that you’re not limited in what you stamp on.   Their beautiful red rubber allows for lots of detail even on a rough surface like canvas.  I hope you found some inspiration in today’s project and if you create something different based on this post… tag me, please.  I’d love to see what you make.

Canvas Art ~ How to add stamped art to a painted canvas.

Hello.  Gaylynn here with my Technique Time series. Today, I am sharing canvas art.  This is a way of adding a stamped watercolor cardstock panel to a painted mixed media canvas.
Adding paper craft art to a canvas is a great way to preserve your artwork.  It is similar to card making, but instead in a mixed-media format.

Helpful tips:
Here are helpful canvas art tips for how to add stamped art to a painted canvas.  First, prime and then paint a canvas.  Then, allow it to dry after priming and also after painting.  Next, stamp then watercolor the wagon panel and the flowers, using watercolor paper and waterproof ink.  Then, dry completely.  Next cut out the flowers and trim the wagon panel.  Optional, add sparkle to the flowers.  Next, in a well-ventilated area, add spray fixatif to the front and the back sides of the stamped and colored art panel and to the flowers.  Onto the canvas, hand stamp background accents and then dry.  Then, apply a matte gel medium to the canvas and to the back side of the wagon panel.  Next, with dry hands, gently press the cardstock panel over the canvas.  Then, apply a top coat of matte gel medium over the canvas and the artwork.  Finally, allow the canvas to dry completely.  Optional, adhere a dry accent frame and then glue the flowers to accent.

Mixed media art stamped tissue paper canvas.

Hello.  It’s Gaylynn with my Technique Time series.  Today, I am sharing a mixed media art tissue paper canvas using stamping and acrylic paint.

This is an inspirational themed stamped tissue paper canvas with a rustic look.  This involves a few steps.  See below for details and a video tutorial on how this canvas was created.

Helpful tips:

Here are helpful tips for creating this stamped tissue paper canvas.  To begin, stamp tissue paper with selected art or words.  Then, tear the tissue to separate the sections.  Next, mix a dab of acrylic paint into a bit of matte gel for each color.  For ease, use a plastic craft mat or palette to separate colors.  Have on hand a pre-primed stretched canvas or prime a canvas and then leave it to dry.  Next, make a background using swipes of three premixed paint colors.  It helps to use a foam blending brush.  Then, assemble the tissue paper pieces onto the wet paint and then brush each tissue section with uncolored matte gel.  Once that has completely dried overnight, blend distress ink around all edges for a rustic look.  Finally, add your choice of extra embellishments or accents to finish.

Inspiration Wednesday ~ Mixed Media Canvas Tutorial

SMAK Saturday!!

Hello there Unity friends,
It’s Karen, and today I’m sharing a 12×12 canvas that I made using quite a few Unity sets…
I drew my inspiration from a past Wildflowers & Wings SMAK kit!
I especially love to mix and match different Unity stamp set onto canvas projects!
Here you can see that I used the sweet little wildflowers, colorful leaves, distressed grid 
on the top corner of my project.  Lots of mixed media products used like Pitt Pens, paint, 
bubble wrap, Gelatos, Neocolor II Artist Crayons, distress inks & markers & stencils.
I also used some of the leaves from this month’s KOTM, bitty backgrounds, and another butterfly!

Just another view of my girl colored in Neocolor II Crayons, and Faber Castell Gelatos!
I wanted to create a whimsical feel, so I surrounded her amongst
bubbles, wildflowers, leaves, and butterflies!
I even gave her some wings of her own, and added a little puffy heart.
Did you catch that I used the some more wildflowers from the SMAK kit to make a collar for her dress?
Then, I stamped the SheArt Print Texture stamp right on the dress…
afterall, SHE is all about positivity!

to see what beautiful creation you come up with…are you up for the challenge?
