Snarky Chicken with Coffee or Tea Holiday Card Paper Layers & Copic Markers

Hello friends.  Welcome to the Unity blog.  I’m Gaylynn.  Sometimes you need a snarky card for those who enjoy the humor. And it is even more fun to send and receive a sassy card around the holidays. This is a snarky chicken with coffee or tea, but not quite ready to FA LA LA. This card has patterned paper layers, Copic marker coloring and an easy card layout.

I used the stamp set by Unity Stamp Company, “Don’t cluck with my coffee”, which is the October 2025 Uniquely Unity Membership Kit.  See the full details and supply list linked below.

Sentiment:  One more cup… then maybe I’ll FA LA LA.

 

 

Helpful Tips:

1.     Stamp the chicken from Don’t Cluck With My Coffee onto smooth white cardstock using black marker friendly ink.

2.     Center and stamp the sentiment above the chicken.

3.     Color with your favorite markers in festive colors.  I used Copic markers.

4.     Trim the chicken panel 4 1/2” x 2 1/2”. Using scissors, hand trim the bottom into a banner base.

5.     Optional:  Add an enamel heart to the cup.

6.     Die-cut the background panel from the Watercolor Tidings paper pack using the large Scallops & Rectangles die 4” x 5 ¼”.

7.     Trim a matted panel from the same paper pack and solid green cardstock: Green 4” x 1 1/2”.  Patterned paper 3 ¾” x 1 ¼”.

8.     Layer & adhere the trim panel then add cording around it tied in a bow.

9.     Layer and adhere the background, the matted trim and the stamped banner panel to the card base using flat and foam double-sided tape.

But First Coffee

Happy Friday crafty friends!  It’s Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules on the blog kicking off a new month using the March 2025 KOM: Chapters and Crossings. This month’s stamps are detailed and delightful, so let’s get inky with them!

I started with the adorable little mouse and used the Grunge Cuts {tag dies} to die cut it out. I colored it using Copic markers and Distress Inks.  The colors were inspired by the Coffee Lovers paper pack.

I used the Scallop & Stitched Rectangle Nesting dies to die cut the background, but also used the Wonderful Washi {die set} to die cut a sentiment from one of the sheets in the Coffee Lovers paper pack. Using a 1″ circle punch I stamped and punched the “love you” sentiment from the KOM. I wanted to give it the look of a button so I first added some Vintage Photo Distress Ink and then added Versamark with clear embossing powder (repeat 3-4 times) to create a thick clear cover.

Before layering all the pieces, I added a cute brad to the tag. I used thin foam tape behind some of the elements to create a little more depth. But all the layers create such a fun card and I absolutely love the two sentiments coming together.

Christmas Coffee

Happy Friday! It’s Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules on the blog with a festive card featuring the new “Latte Santa” stamp kit. This Saint Nick is getting his java on and what better background to pair him with than the “Coffee is Life” background stamp. Let’s get inky!

Step 1. Stamp the “Coffee is Life” background stamp using Gina K – Jelly Bean Green ink or something similar. I used my Misti to make sure I get a solid print on the background, but you can also make it grungy and patchy if you’d like.

Step 2. Trim the background to 4″ x 5.25″ and then mat the background on a red card stock measured at XXXX and adhere to a white card base.

Step 3. Stamp “Latte Santa”, color him in using your favorite medium. I used Copics and listed the colors below and then fussy cut him out.  Line him up to your stamped background and trim him accordingly to fit your card front.

Copics Used:

  • Hat, suspenders and mug: R59, R29, R27, R08
  • Hat fur and beard: C2, C0, 0
  • Shirt: BG99, BG96, BG93 (YG17 over it all to match the green in the background ink used)
  • Pants and belt: B99, B97, B95, C10, C8, C6
  • Skin: E11, E21, E51, YR01
  • Coffee: E25, E23, 0

Step 4. Using foam tape, I adhere “Latte Santa” to the card front.

Step 5. Stamp the sentiment “Java Merry Christmas…” and die cut using a speech bubble die and adhere with more foam tape.

Step 6. For the interior, I used another sentiment from the “Latte Santa” and stamped it on white card stock and die cut it using the Scallop & Stitched Rectangles and matted it onto red card stock.

This fun and festive card is super easy to make and is guaranteed to fill your coffee loving friend’s cup with joy!

Money holder card idea for gifts.

Hi there, Gaylynn here. Today for the  Unity blog, I am sharing a money holder card idea that works for gifting celebrations or occasions, friends, teachers or just a thank you.  This one includes an interactive money loop along with creative stamping.

No coloring is involved in the making of this card.  I used a bit of paper piecing for the mug and colorful stamping for the background.


Sentiment:  You deserve a treat.

In summary, to make this money holder card, begin by preparing an A2 sized card base in white.  Next, stamp the background onto white cardstock in two different colors.  Then, stamp the mug and the sentiment panels.  I stamped the mug onto patterned paper and then fussy cut (cut it out).  Also, die-cut or trim the background panel, a border and a money holder loop.  Finally, adhere all of the layers onto the card base, using flat and foam double-sided tape and glue, to finish.

Technique Tuesday ~ Fun with Background Stamps

Hello there crafty friend!
Crystal here from Tawny Owl Paperie and I’m back with another Technique Tuesday! On the 2nd Tuesday of each month I’ll be sharing a bit of inspiration and a video featuring a fun technique. I hope that you’ll be inspired to get inky and play along with some of the techniques that I share.

 

Today’s technique is a super fun one using background stamps that I learned about last year at a Unity Lovers Get Together for the Missouri/Kansas group that I am so honored to be a part of. I so wanted to share this technique for a challenge last year but other ideas kept getting in the way. Anywho, I’m super excited to share this fun technique with you today. I had a lot of fun creating some pretty backgrounds for my cards.

 

Flutter Card

 

First up, I used the gorgeous Rustic Flutter with the Worn Grid background stamps. I also paired it up with the beautiful new Paper Wings. Die cut the background using the largest die from the Scallops & Rectangle {nesting dies} and I die cut the sentiment using a die from the Banner Nesting Dies. Adhered all the layers to an A2 top fold card. The butterflies bodies are adhered to the card so the wings can be up giving the card lots of dimension.

 

Summer Girl Card

 

Next up is a soft, summery background featuring the Bloomy and Linen background stamps. Coincidentally, both of these stamps were Background of the Month stamps for the month of April {one in 2022 and the latest in 2023}. I thought that was fun! And they are SO beautiful together! I paired up the pretty background with the summer girl in the July 2023 Kit of the Month. I couldn’t wait to color her up! So gorgeous! Die cut the background with the largest die from the Deckle & Stitches Nesting Dies. And die cut the sentiment using a die from the Scalloped & Stitched Sentiment Nesting Die Set.

Typewriter Card

 

My third card features the A Faithful Letter, and the recently released, Wrinkle background… a collaboration with Brutus Monroe. My most favorite background right now, so I just had to use it! I paired it up with the beautiful typewriter stamp from the June 2023 Kit of the Month. I have had this sweet typewrite stamped and just sitting on my desk waiting to be on a card. So happy to finally use it! I love this stamp! Die cut the background using the largest die from the Postage Stamp Nesting Dies. I wrapped the background a few times with {Natural} May Arts Burlap String securing it on the back with some tape. I fussy cut the typewriter and popped it up on the card with foam tape.

 

Coffee Card

 

Last but not at all least, the fabulous coffee themed background featuring the Coffee Crazy and Coffee is Life background stamps. Such an easy background! I paired up this background with the sweet Ellie Girl. So delighted to finally ink up this beautiful girl. Die cut the background with the largest die from the Scallops & Rectangles {nesting dies}. Grounded Ellie Girl with a strip of dark brown card stock that I also mat the sentiment on. This technique was so much fun!!

This was such a fun technique and so many possibilities depending on what colors you use and the mix of backgrounds, too! Monochromatic Coffee Card ~ December 2022 Kit of the Month

Hello there crafty friend!
Crystal here from Tawny Owl Paperie sharing a quick card for the December 2022 Kit of the Month. It’s a busy time of year for everyone!! If you find yourself in need of a card that can also be a gift… this one is quick and easy.

Monochromatic Coffee Card

Today’s Advent Calendar Day 12 stamp just happens to be coffee themed so I thought I’d pair it up with the cute coffee stamps in this month’s KOM. Some simple copic coloring really makes this a quick card. I used T0, T1, T2, T3, T4, T5, T7, R20, R14, R27. This may look like a long list but I used different ones on different cups. I also added just a touch of red to the Advent Calendar stamp.
 
The monochromatic design really started with that pretty black and white paper from the Coffee Lovers {paper pack}. And I couldn’t help but use the Scallops & Circles {nesting dies} again. They work so perfectly with the Advent Calendar stamps.

 

Next, the sentiment was stamped directly on the card. I had originally stamped it on a scrap and was going to cut it but this simple card just needed a simple sentiment. Easy peasy.

 

The inside of the card is what makes this a gift. Just add a scrap of pattern paper! Some tear tape on just the bottom and sides to adhere it to the card leaves that top open to insert your gift card.

Cards Sprinkled with Holiday Cheer

Happy Friday, Unies! This is Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules and today I’m sharing a sugary sweet holiday card that holds gift cards!  This is a great way to package your gift cards for loved ones. So let’s sprinkle some Christmas crafty fun!

Okay, I’ll be honest… I used a lot different Unity stamps to make this, but that’s part of the fun!  I started with paper-piecing the coffee cup from the Spring Coffee stamp set.  This cup is sooooo perfect for all those coffee/tea lovers, and it’s not just for Spring as you can see.  I loved the soft winter colors from the Winter White paper pack.  I stamped the cup on the patterned paper and cut it out whole (including the top).  I then stamped the top of the cup on white card stock and colored it using Cool Grey Copics.  I fussy cut the top and glued it over the patterned paper to create this cozy coffee cup to go.

I wanted to use create the full coffee cup look, so I found some red scrap paper and used my scoreboard to score lines to give that rippled look of a coffee cup sleeve.  Then I used the seal in the Spring Coffee stamp set with a round vintage stamp from the Christmas Express stamp set.  Using a red Copic, I colored in the snowflake to coordinate with the sleeve.

Now onto the Sweet Sprinkled Donut!!

You might not think of this donut as something for a Christmas/Holiday card, but you can make almost anything into a holiday theme.  Using greens, reds and a white look, this donut because perfectly sprinkled with holiday cheer.  I started by coloring the image with Copics and fussy cutting it out.  After fussy cutting it out, I used a Momento marker in Tuxedo Black to color the edges.

To create the sprinkled look, I laid down a thin layer of glue and sprinkled Diamond Dust over it.  You can also use Stickles or a translucent glitter or embossing powder, but I wanted to give this a more textured look with these sprinkles.  This took a long time to dry, so this might not be the way to go if you’ve got a time limit.  While I waited for that to dry, I used an embossing ink to stamp the Merry Christmas from the Heart of Christmas stamp set on another green card stock from the Winter White paper pack and heat embossed white embossing powder.  Using this green card stock gave a pop of color to balance out the card.

Now, here’s the fun part.  I used a fun die to create this latch that opens up where I put some gift cards.  I die cut another light piece patterned paper from the Winter White paper pack and using foam tape, adhered it to a green card base.  No need to wrap this gift up, just put it in the envelope and you’re all set!
