Dimensional Card

November 27, 2024 - by Gaylynn

Cozy Vibes Owl and Branches Dimensional Card

Welcome, Gaylynn here.  Lately, I have been making dimensional cards for added texture and interest.  Here is my cozy vibes owl and branches card.   I use a mix of rubber stamping, Copic marker coloring and 3D embossing folder details.

Here, I thought the combination would be great for this owl.

Sentiment:
Sending you all the cozy vibes.

Helpful Tips:

  1. Prepare an A2-sized card base 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ in white.

  2. Trim or die-cut two card front panels in green.

  3. Spritz with water mist and then dry emboss both green panels in a leaf pattern.

  4. Stamp and color the owl on white cardstock. I used Copic marker coloring but use what you have.

  5. Add white dots to the owl’s cheeks.

  6. Fussy cut the owl.

  7. Die-cut or hand trim a leaf from one of the embossing panels.

  8. Stamp then trim or die-cut the sentiment on white.

  9. Layer and adhere everything to the card front using both flat and foam tape.

Finally, this is a closer look at today’s card project.

Here is a look at the video process:

Snarky frog grassy scene card ~ no coloring

Hi there, Gaylynn here.  Today for the Unity blog, I am sharing a funny and snarky frog grassy scene card.  I paired two kits that work perfectly together for a great card for a guy or gal.

For interest, I added a grassy scene and a bit of stenciling for this guy.  This project requires no coloring.

Sentiment:
I made this card with large font so old farts like you could read it.

This is another look.

Helpful tips:

For this project, begin by preparing an A2 sized card base in white.  Then, onto a card front panel, stencil lightly for a sky look.  Also, stamp the sentiment over the sky.  Next, trim or die-cut slopes for the grass.  Then, stamp and heat emboss the frog on dark green cardstock.  I embossed him in white.  For accent, add light ink blending in gray or black around the toad and the grass.  Also, fussy cut (cut out) the frog.  Finally, using flat and foam tape, adhere it all onto the card base, to finish.

Here is a closer look.

See how this card was made.

Feel the Merry in a Box

Happy Friday!  I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with lots of love and good eats.  This is Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules and today I’m sharing Pooh in a box!  Yep, this is a dimensional card that creates a lovely holiday scene with the Winnie the Pooh: Feel the Merry stamp set and the Itty Bitty: Struggle is Part of It.  I put up my Christmas tree yesterday with my family and thought of this sweet stamp set.

Now, you can add dimension with this stamp set without this box set by doing the following:

Step 1.  Stamp the image and only color Christopher Robin, Pooh and all below.

Step 2.  Fussy cut them out.

Step 3.  Stamp the image again and color the tree and color in the edges of the rest of the image using one of the colors used for that spot.  {For example:  Use one of the bright greens to color Christopher’s jacket, blue for his jeans, brown for his boots… etc.} This will be covered, but it looks better when you look at the card at an angle.

Step 4.  Fussy Cut the whole image out.

Step 5.  Using foam adhesive squares or strips, adhere the larger fussy cut one to the background.

Step 6.  Using more foam adhesive, layer the fussy cut Christopher and Pooh over the first layer.  Line them up as best you can and this will add so much dimension to this image.

For this box card, I did use a die set to help create this scene, but the concept was the same.  To add another layer, I stamped and fussy cut the books from the Struggle is Part of It Itty Bitty stamp set. I liked the idea of these two reading by the Christmas tree.

Here’s an over the top angle to show you had the layers stick out and can fold down when closing the card to place in an A2-sized envelope.  For a finishing touch, I used a sticker from the Idea-Ology Spiral Bound Sticker Book and stamped the sentiment on it.
