Cards Sprinkled with Holiday Cheer

Happy Friday, Unies! This is Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules and today I’m sharing a sugary sweet holiday card that holds gift cards!  This is a great way to package your gift cards for loved ones. So let’s sprinkle some Christmas crafty fun!

Okay, I’ll be honest… I used a lot different Unity stamps to make this, but that’s part of the fun!  I started with paper-piecing the coffee cup from the Spring Coffee stamp set.  This cup is sooooo perfect for all those coffee/tea lovers, and it’s not just for Spring as you can see.  I loved the soft winter colors from the Winter White paper pack.  I stamped the cup on the patterned paper and cut it out whole (including the top).  I then stamped the top of the cup on white card stock and colored it using Cool Grey Copics.  I fussy cut the top and glued it over the patterned paper to create this cozy coffee cup to go.

I wanted to use create the full coffee cup look, so I found some red scrap paper and used my scoreboard to score lines to give that rippled look of a coffee cup sleeve.  Then I used the seal in the Spring Coffee stamp set with a round vintage stamp from the Christmas Express stamp set.  Using a red Copic, I colored in the snowflake to coordinate with the sleeve.

Now onto the Sweet Sprinkled Donut!!

You might not think of this donut as something for a Christmas/Holiday card, but you can make almost anything into a holiday theme.  Using greens, reds and a white look, this donut because perfectly sprinkled with holiday cheer.  I started by coloring the image with Copics and fussy cutting it out.  After fussy cutting it out, I used a Momento marker in Tuxedo Black to color the edges.

To create the sprinkled look, I laid down a thin layer of glue and sprinkled Diamond Dust over it.  You can also use Stickles or a translucent glitter or embossing powder, but I wanted to give this a more textured look with these sprinkles.  This took a long time to dry, so this might not be the way to go if you’ve got a time limit.  While I waited for that to dry, I used an embossing ink to stamp the Merry Christmas from the Heart of Christmas stamp set on another green card stock from the Winter White paper pack and heat embossed white embossing powder.  Using this green card stock gave a pop of color to balance out the card.

Now, here’s the fun part.  I used a fun die to create this latch that opens up where I put some gift cards.  I die cut another light piece patterned paper from the Winter White paper pack and using foam tape, adhered it to a green card base.  No need to wrap this gift up, just put it in the envelope and you’re all set!

Birthday Donut Recipe

Happy Friday, Unies!  This is Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules and today I’m creating a tasty border using the new Birthday Donut stamp set.  This stamp set comes with two different sized donut stacks and two wonderful sentiments.  I’ll be going over all of the ingredients for this sweet birthday card!

Ingredients:

Recipe:

  •  First put one piece of white card stock into the corner of your Misti.  Using your larger donut set, stamp the image about 3/4″ from the left side.
  •  Without removing the stamp, stamp the second piece of white card stock in the same spot.
  •  Next, stamp the same large donut image on masking paper and fussy cut it out.
  •  Now, remove the stamp from the Misti, clean it and place it 3/4″ from the right side of the card stock and lower it a little so they aren’t at the same high level. Repeat this on the second piece of white card stock.
  •  Remove the large donut stamp.
  •  Apply the donut mask over the stamped large donut stack on the right.
  •  Line up the smaller donut stack stamp on the left of the image and stamp it.  Do the same on the second piece of white card stock.
  •  Leaving the mask on, remove the small donut stack stamp and move it to the right side of the larger donut stack.  Again, repeat on the other white card stock.
  •  Now, make a mask of the small donut stack stamped image.
  •  Remove the large donut mask and place it on the large donut stamp on the left.  Apply the small donut mask on the small donut stamped image that will laps over.
  •  Stamp the small donut stack on the left and right of the large stack to fill in the border.   Repeat this on the white card stock.  You should have two matching donut bordered pieces.
  •  On one of the pieces, stamp the sentiment where it fights in between candles.
  •  Using the border dies, die cut one with the larger scallops and use the smaller die on the second piece.  This will create a layered look.

  • Using Festive Berries distress Ink, color in the edges of the scalloped edged card stock. You only need to color the edges that will show.
  • Using Copics, color in the donuts.  This can be simple by coloring the same donuts the same colors, or you can get creative and color each stack differently.  Colors used:
    • RV23, RV21, E31, E53, E59, E29, E25, E23, E11, YR20, E50 , Y19, Y06 & Lady Bug Red Memento Marker
  • Using Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink, lightly blend around each candle flame.
  • Using Spun Sugar Distress Ink, lightly blend the edge of the image to bring a little color to the piece.
  •  Use foam tape to adhere the colored image on the scalloped piece.  Then adhere to A2-sized card base.
  • Once done, using Nuvo Crystal Drops, cover the icing sections of the donuts to give them a glazed look.  I also added the Crystal Drops on the flames too.
  • Let clear gloss dry and send with love.

Sprinkled With Love

With just over a week before Valentine’s Day, I wanted to sprinkle some love on your weekend!  Hi everyone! This is Jules of Paper Gems by Jules and today I’m making a fun Valentine’s Day card for a friend using the “Sweet Sprinkled Donut” stamp set designed by Graciellie Designs.  This sweet stamp comes with 3 fun sentiments that work for more than just Valentine’s Day!

The Copic colors I used to make this tasty treat are as follows:

Donut:  E35, E55 & E31
Icing:  RV23, RV21& RV10
Sprinkles on Donut: RV09, RV29 and white gel pen.

For the background, I used a fun stencil and Candied Apple, Worn Lipstick and Gathered Twigs Distress Oxides.  And I love that oxides allow the colors to be layers without mixing them up and making a mess.

I used brown washi tape to divide the card front and add the sentiment using VersaFine Clair in Acorn.  To coordinate a little more, I layered this on brown card stock, then white and onto a bright red card base.  And the heart shaped donut was adhered using foam tape.  Super easy… and so delightful!
