Unity Sisters

Happy Friday!  It’s Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules back on the blog today.  For many of us celebrating the holidays, we’ve been really busy.  But today I wanted share this fabulous new stamp set that was released just last week.  It’s part of the last release for the year.  Can you believe the year is almost over?!  Anyway, you’re going to love this classy vintage stamp set designed by Jessica Pickeral called “You Are Not Normal.”  I love the look of these vintage fashionistas.

I wanted to use a vintage style pattern for this stamp set, but when I pulled out the paper pad I had, nothing spoke to me.  So I dove into my scrap bin and found this… it was perfect!  So I pulled the colors from the paper into the image.

But I think what I liked about these girls is that they seemed to have some sass and that reminded me of some of the fun design team members that I just adore.  That’s when I changed things up for the sentiment.

Using the new Unity die, I had to represent our Unity sisters!  Using one of the sentiments from the “You Are Not Normal” sentiment,  I simple stamped and cut out the word “sisters” and it fit perfectly.  So as we approach the end of the year, I wanted to celebrate the sisterhood that Unity brings to all of us.  I can’t wait for all of the craziness to die down so that I could meet many of my Unity sisters.

Matching card & wine tag set ~ tutorial

Hello.  It’s Gaylynn here.  For Technique Time at Unity Stamp Company, I am sharing a friendship themed card and wine tag set.  These coordinate perfectly.

This matching friendship card and wine tag set is great as a hostess gift set.  However, the gift tag can be placed on most any other gift.

Sentiment:  Peace, love, wine.

Helpful tips:

Here are helpful tips for creating this card and wine tag set.  To begin, stamp a background panel, the girl and two sentiment tags.  Also, for the girl stamping, use Copic friendly ink.  Next, trim or die-cut tag layers and the background panel.  Then, add color to the girl.  Next, add twine cording to the tags.  Then, layer the background, the girl and one of the tags onto the card base.  Also, to finish, add the extra tag to a gift or a wine bottle for gift giving.

Supplies:  Unity Stamp Co. Charlotte {fashionista}, A Round Of Cocktails and You Can Do It.
Also, foam and flat double-sided tape, cardstock, heat tool, Original Misti, adhesive gems, cording, My Creative Time rectangle frame die layers and tag frame dies (retired), MFT extreme black ink, Ranger ink in rose madder, black soot distress ink pad; Copic markers C1, C3, C5, W7, W5, E00, E71, E33, E13, E11, R02, RV29.

Let’s Party Girls!!

I’m so not even close to done with Christmas cards, but maybe I’ll just work on sending out cards for New Years!? ????????‍♀️ Hey everyone! It’s Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules and boy do I miss happy hour with friends!  I recently pulled out this oldie, but goodie set from the Fashionistas line called “Party Girls.”  These two sophisticated girls are ready to paint the town red and celebrate… and we’re all going to celebrate when 2020 is OVER!

Making this card was pretty simple.  I stamped the girls and colored them in using Copics.  For fun accents, I used a gold pen on the girl in the blue dress to add sequins to her top and make her shoes gold.  I used a silver pen on the belt buckle of the girl in the two piece suit.

Next I stamped the script “cheers” from the “Heart of Christmas” Sentiment Stamp Set using VersaFine ink.  I embossed it with clear embossing powder to make it stand out.  Once dry, I stamped the “Happy New Year” from the same “Heart of Christmas” set.

Last, using distress ink, I shaded the edges before die cutting it and layering it on black card stock before adhering it on the blush card base.  Let’s not forget to send some celebratory cards to friends and family and start the new year with positivity and good vibes!

Let’s Get Slim!

Hello Friends!

Welcome back to our final week of getting slim! I know, I’m sad too! I enjoyed slimming down this month! It was almost effortless!

We’re only 2 months away from October and when I think of October I “think pink” for breast cancer awareness. I have many friends who have been touched in some way  by breast cancer so October is an important month for me to help share their stories as well as awareness to this disease.

So this week I’m sharing a card I made with exactly this idea in mind! And here’s what I came up with using this beautiful kit called “ Hope {Fashionista} ”

And here’s how I made this card:

  1. I started off with a black cardstock base cut at 8 1/2x 3 ½.
  2. I then cut a piece of designer paper cut ¼ inch smaller than my mat
  3. The brackets and letters H, P, E were all die cut in both pink and black using Alphabet dies.
  4. The support ribbon was also cut using a ribbon die in both pink and black
  5. To give the ribbon some texture, I ran the pink die cut of the ribbon through my Big Shot using a flowered embossing folder
  6. Fashionista gal was inked using archival ink and then colored using Arteza brushes.
  7. The sentiment (not from the kit, it was a random stamp that came with an order I received) was stamped onto black cardstock with Versamark and embossed using white embossing powder.
  8. The pink brackets, ribbon and letters were adhered ever so slightly off center on top of the matching black counterparts with small foam adhesives.
  9. I then strategically placed each of the letters onto my card base, as shown, also using foam adhesives.
  10.  Fashionista gal was then adhered onto the base with foam adhesives and cut to size.
  11. The sentiment was glued as shown and then I added flowered sequins to accents.

This card was a bit more time consuming but not really all that difficult. I know that whomever I send this card to will certainly appreciate it as much as I enjoyed making it.

DT Tuesday

Hi everyone, Laurel here with this week’s DT Tuesday.
It is no secret that I love the Fashionistas so I had to use one for today’s post.
For Tabitha’s stockings I stamped the SheArt Print Texture stamp, love the subtle pattern it adds.  Of course I paper pieced her since I love to fussy cut.  I then added some stamped embellishments from the Bottled up Boo’s set and finally a sentiment from the Pick Your Poisin kit.
Now as I was poking around I came across this fabulous tag by Mandi Speers, love the texture and distressing!
And now since I am a new grandma (Kaiah is one month already!) I thought this was such a great quote!

Pick of the Week Tuesday

Hi everyone Laurel here.  
Here we are halfway through July already, summer goes by too fast doesn’t it?!
I am here with this week’s Pick of the Week and it is a beauty.
I found Camille’s blog via the Unity Show and Tell Group on Facebook (have you joined?).   I have to say I was very impressed, be sure to hop on over there to take a peek, you won’t be disappointed!
I really loved this artwork of hers, isn’t it just gorgeous!

Now I love the saying on the tag of Camilles and I love everyday type of quotes.  
I created this little card, well it is actually made to sit on a desk as an inspiration piece.  
I used the Roxanne Fashionista, along with a sentiment from the June SMAK kit, which I cut apart and finally the SheArt Print Texture stamp which I stamped with white on some black ‘chalkboard’ paper.
