Ombre Block Stamping

Good morning! I’m back today for the weekly Monday feature for me here on the Unity Stamp Company Blog! So happy to be featuring the AMAZING Unity Kit of the Month set on Mondays here on the blog. These kits are always AMAZING, and they hold a special place in my heart since they were the first thing I purchased from Unity, and what got me hooked on Unity to begin with. Who DOESN’T love getting a happy package of stamps in the mail every month, right? And these kits just keep getting better and better. This week I have a fun and simple ombre stamping technique using the lovely solid cake image from this month’s kit!

Here is a closer look at this card – and the fun dimension from the Nuvo drops:

I also grabbed another color combo to stamp this out and see how it looks in completely different colors – you could create an entire set as a gift!

These are also super nice and flat cards that are easy to mail – the tiny bit of dimension from the Nuvo drops wouldn’t interfere with that, but is still a fun addition!

Map Travel and Adventure Card

I mentioned how much I loved the travel themed images in this month’s kit – and what goes better with that then maps, am I right? So mixing up this kit with some map pattern paper was a perfect combination!

As always, here is this week’s video showing you how I created this card:

I did a simple die cut border along one edge – you could use any border die, or decorative scissors, or even add a torn edge if you wish. The sentiment I cut with a stitched circle die.

Some distress ink in Antique Linen around the edges of each die cut piece add the perfect softness to help it blend with the vintage feel of the pattern paper.

Some jute string tied through the circle turns it into a fun tag – and tucks perfectly under the edges of the main image popped up on foam adhesive.

Rainbow Starburst Compass

I love some of the travel theme images in this newest Kit of the Month – especially with the crazy travel schedule I’ve had this year! In fact, today as you are reading this, I am on my way to Hawaii to visit my brother and family – I may have had tropical thoughts in mind when I picked these colors? 🙂

As I mention in the video, this card was one of those “happy accidents” I seem to have quite often! My original plan was to just do a starburst image around the outer edges with one strip of each color – but I didn’t like all the white areas I ended up with, since I probably spaced out my stripes too far apart. So I added extra – and much to my surprise, I loved it!

I kept the masking quite simple – while you can easily use masking paper, I found that I didn’t need this mask to hold in place super firmly because I was only doing simple blending up to the edges. So using inexpensive printer paper and some post it tape to hold it in place worked just fine!

After the video concluded, I changed my mind and decided to add some color to to the image, so I used Warm Grays to add some monochromatic tones – I really wanted to keep it neutral so the starburst around the edges could shine. To finish, I added some splatters of Perfect Pearls mixed with water.
