3 Easy Halloween Treat Bag Tags

Hi friends.  Welcome to the Unity blog.  I’m Gaylynn.  Every year, I make Halloween treat bag tags for the trick-or-treaters. It is fun to make multiples while your supplies are out.  It is always a surprise when they see decorated treats.

The featured Unity Stamp Company ghost stamps and sentiments are from Daisy Boo-ho set, Ghosting In The Sunshine set, and Petal Boo set. To create these favor tags, I used rubber stamping, colored pencils, ephemera and die-cutting. I include the project steps and supplies below.

 

To begin, here is a look at the three goodie bag tags:
Sentiments:
Sending ghost hugs.
Sending boo sunshine and daisies.
A little sunshine for your spirit.

 

Helpful Tips

 

  • Trim ephemera tags for the tag backgrounds.

  • Stamp three ghosts and sentiments onto kraft color cardstock, leaving room for die-cutting each.

  • Color the ghost scenes. I used colored pencils in shades of salmon, green, white and brown.

  • Die-cut or trim the ghosts using rectangle dies from ZigZag dies.

  • Die-cut or trim the sentiments using sentiment label dies.

  • Adhere and layer everything over the card front and tie with cording.

Finding Meaning in Every Petal

Sometimes creativity asks us to slow down.

When I first started playing with the Slow Bloom Society stamp set from the March 2026 Kit of the Month by Unity, I immediately fell in love with the elegant peony image. Instead of making traditional cards, I decided to take a little creative detour and create two artistic pieces using the same stamped image. It was the perfect reminder that one stamp can inspire endless possibilities.

For this project, I explored the symbolism of white peonies and red peonies, letting their meanings guide the mood and color choices of each piece.

The Meaning of White Peonies

White peonies are often associated with purity, sincerity, and new beginnings. They symbolize gentle beauty and quiet inspiration.

For the first piece, I kept the flowers soft and light against a rich blue background. The white petals almost glow against the darker tones, creating a feeling of calm and reflection. I wanted the artwork to feel like a peaceful moment in a busy day — the kind that reminds you to create inspiration every day.

This piece feels dreamy and artistic, with splatters, layers, and soft details that highlight the delicate nature of the flower.

The Meaning of Red Peonies

Red peonies symbolize love, honor, passion, and prosperity. In many cultures, they are considered one of the most powerful expressions of romance and celebration, often representing deep affection and heartfelt emotion.

For the second piece, I colored the same floral image in rich red tones to reflect this vibrant symbolism. The bold color instantly brings warmth and energy to the artwork while still highlighting the graceful elegance of the peony blooms.

Creating this version as a tag felt especially fitting — almost like a small keepsake or gift tag that celebrates beauty, love, and the idea that beautiful things take time.

One Stamp, Two Creative Directions

One of my favorite things about stamping is how a single image can tell completely different stories depending on color, layout, and background.

For this project, I intentionally stepped away from my usual card-making routine to create small art pieces instead of cards. Sometimes changing formats helps spark new creativity and reminds us that our supplies can be used in so many ways.

Cards Inspired by Faith

There are certain stamp sets that immediately speak to your heart the moment you see them — and that is exactly what happened when I worked with the Christian Bundle Pack that includes Because He Lives and Held In His Hands. These sets are more than images. They tell a story. A story of sacrifice, love, grace, and unwavering faith.

Today I’m sharing two cards that were created from a place of reflection and gratitude — perfect for Easter, encouragement, sympathy, or simply reminding someone that they are never alone.

Card One: Strength Through Faith

The first card features the powerful image from Because He Lives — a moving depiction of Jesus carrying the cross paired with the sentiment:

“Great strength comes from faith in God.”

How This Idea Came to Life

I wanted this card to feel solemn yet hopeful. The red matting represents sacrifice and love, while the darker layering grounds the design and adds weight to the emotion of the image. I kept the background clean with subtle texture so the artwork remains the focal point.

The coloring was done in warm, earthy tones to emphasize humanity and sacrifice, while soft shading around the image gives it a reverent glow.

Card Two: In His Hands – A Message of Comfort

The second card features the tender image from Held In His Hands — Jesus holding a lamb — framed with a radiant yellow burst background symbolizing hope and resurrection.

Behind the image, I incorporated a word cross filled with powerful faith-based words like Joy, Pray, Grace, Trust, Believe, Peace, and Save from the By His Wounds stamp set. This creates visual depth while reinforcing the spiritual message.

Design Inspiration

I wanted this card to feel uplifting and comforting — almost like light breaking through the darkness. The yellow rays naturally draw your eye to the center while the black matting adds bold contrast and elegance.

Bold Bauble Blunder

Sometimes, the best cards come from the biggest blunders.

While playing with the October 2025 Kit of the Month – Bold Baubles stamp kit, I stamped these sweet, simple ornaments and started coloring them with my Prismacolor Pencils. I wanted rich, bold color with soft, smooth blending — so I grabbed my trusty Gamsol to make the magic happen.

But somewhere between blending the red bauble and the green one… I slipped. My blending stump wandered outside the lines, smudging color where it definitely didn’t belong. For a second, I thought I’d ruined it.

Then I took a breath and thought — what if this is meant to be?

Instead of scrapping the panel, I used the residual color left on my blending stump to softly spread that “oops” around the entire background. To my surprise, it turned into this dreamy, watercolor-like wash that made the ornaments pop even more.

A few touches of Perfect Pearls gave the whole piece a subtle shimmer, and suddenly my mistake wasn’t a blunder at all — it was the best part of the card.

Sometimes our creative detours are just happy accidents waiting to shine.
