Inspiration Wednesday

Wednesday greetings, Unity friends!
Shellye along with you today for one of my favorite Unity features:
INSPIRATION WEDNESDAY
For today’s inspiration, I’ve chosen a couple of different things from
a couple of different places…first up is some inspo from one of our
UNITY {show & tell} Facebook Group
(this is an ‘open’ group, so if you’re on Facebook, come on over!)
First….here’s my card using one of the June Kit-of-the-Month stamps
and a sentiment from the Birthday Jubilee Set (which is now on SALE for $10…grab it!)

I don’t emboss much, but I thought I’d try something different!
After stamping the image onto vellum with VersaMark, I used ColorBox’s Rootbeer Scentz
Embossing Powder…pretty cool!

My inspiration for this card….

I just love the bold pop that the embossed image makes on this card by Tenia Nelson
of jazzypaper.blogspot.com!  Thanks for sharing, Tenia!

My final inspiration came from a browse through Pinterest…

I went for an ombre-subway-art-look with a montage of stamps from the
Birthday Jubilee set!  I used this fun color swatch as the palette inspiration:

(by Photo Card Boutique)

Inspiration is all around…the interpretation is up to your imagination 🙂
Be sure to share yours with us at Unity’s {show & tell}!
Thanks for joining me today!

Petaloo + KOTM Team-Up!

Welcome, Unity and Petaloo Friends!
Today kicks off a week’s worth of inspiring creations with a team-up of
UNITY STAMP + PETALOO
Monday being Kit-of-the-Month-Day, I have a sweet little card of ‘hearts’
using the May KOTM and the “Color Me Crazy Multi-Colored Centers” Flowers
If you’re not familiar with Petaloo’s “Color Me Crazy” line, these are an assortment of
various styled flowers that you can paint, stamp, chalk, ink, etc.
For mine, I used ColorShine Primrose Spritz and a brush:

As you can see, just dip a paintbrush into the bottle of spritz and paint each of the petals!
Of course, the more coats you give them, the darker they will become 🙂
I hand-cut a heart from cardstock and then layered the inset with another color.
The blooms were then added to the center of the heart with foam squares.
The sentiment is from the May KOTM…I love it!
I just stamped it onto the smooth side of the cardstock with ColorBox’s Midnight Ink.
Not a Kit-of-the-Month Member?  Treat yourself today!
Each month you will receive an 8.5 X 11 sheet of unique and original red-rubber
stamps.  These are great for cards, scrapbook pages, home decor, packaging and more.
Again, we’ll be sharing ideas using Unity Stamps & Petaloo all week long…
even our regular Thursday Inspiration Hop will feature even more projects 😉

Head on over to the Petaloo blog for more amazing ideas.

Thanks for stopping by today…have a wonderful week!

Design Team Tuesday

I know it’s been said before, but I’ll say it again…
I LOVE Design Team Tuesday!
What a great chance to sit down and explore all that is Unity 🙂
I found so much inspiration from the Unity Facebook Page, 2 Peas Gallery,
and Unity fan blogs.  For today’s post I went in search of some clean-and-simple styles.
I’m so fond of CAS, yet I very seldom create a card that falls into this category…this was fun!
From this past Friday’s Friends-With-Flair, I came across this beautiful
creation by Jingle entitled, Shine Bright Like a Diamond
If you click on the link above you can see how Jingle went about designing her card.
Next, I headed over to 2Peas Gallery where this sweetly designed card caught my eye.
This is from the blog of Kerry Urbatch
I just love all of the black stamping and the hint of a light blue background that she stamped!
She gives a recipe of creating her card on the blog link listed above.
So with these two pieces of inspiration I came up with a card using the
MARCH KIT OF THE MONTH

I inked the stamp with ColorBox’s Khaki Green first and then wiped away the ink from
the sunburst.  Then I carefully inked that area with ColorBox’s Squash.
A piece of paper straw by Queen & Co. matched the Squash color perfectly….love the
bit of whimsy that it adds to the card.  I finished off the top with a button and two pearls.
Quick and clean-and-simple!
I hope that you’ve enjoyed today’s inspiration as much as I did 🙂
Glad you’ve stopped by today!

SMAK Saturday

Good Saturday, Unity friends
Shellye with you today to share some SMAK goodness!
I love stamping on layouts and Unity SMAK kits are made for layouts…
with a variety of quotes, cute sayings, date stamps, icons and other fun things that
are current with today’s happenings, you can have a page done in no time.
I hadn’t thought of it before, but my daughter says that these stamps would be so cool for
Tear Up This Books (by American Girl) and Doodle Diaries!
Here is a really quick 12×12 layout that I made using the
APRIL 2013 SMAK KIT: Celebrate the Good Times
and
Simple Stories’ Vintage Bliss Collection
I just LOVE the Polaroid look, so I left room at the bottom of the pink mat for stamping
the title on to.
I punched out the round icon with a 1.5 circle punch and added it with foam tape.
I use “remember” a lot on layouts…in keeping with the ’rounded corner’ look I punched the
corners and then distressed the edges of the paper with a brown ink.
No sticker letters or alphabets needed…thank you SMAK!
Do you like to scrapbook with stamps too?  Sign-up for SMAK today!
With Mother’s Day around the bend, this would also make a lovely gift 🙂
Thanks for stopping by today…have a wonderful weekend!

{Inspiration} Wednesday

Wednesday afternoon greetings!
Shellye up today to bring you into the world of
INSPIRATION WEDNESDAY
What inspires your designs?
A lot of times I’ll just sit down and start pulling things together,
but other times I do find it nice to be prompted to find inspiration from things
that are all around us: the internet, magazine ads, colors found in a wardrobe, nature, etc.
For today’s Inspiration Wednesday, I trekked over to Pinterest and found
these two items of interest:

And from these two pieces of inspiration, I came up with this card using the
February Kit-of-the-Month: Let Love Grow

I used an ombre stamp of various shades of blues by Imagine Crafts and stamped the
seed packet design onto a piece of plain white cardstock.
I shaded in the areas with water color pencils and then spritzed with walnut ink
before trimming out and layering with postage stamp die-cut shapes.
I think this would be such a sweet card for someone who loves gardening…tuck
in a packet or two of seeds and they’ll surely remember you each time they bloom!
So grab some inspiration and have fun with Unity Stamps and a dab of ink 😉
Thanks for stopping by to visit!
