Sunflower card topper ~ Watercolor with dye ink pads

Hello, Gaylynn here.  Today, I am sharing watercolor with dye ink pads for this sunflower card topper.  This is a fun way to use almost any stamp, especially background stamps.

You don’t need fancy watercolor sets if you have dye ink pads.  When water is added to a palette, the ink becomes great for adding watercolor to cards.

Helpful tips:
These are helpful tips for creating watercolor with dye ink pads.  To begin, stamp the sunflower background using waterproof ink onto watercolor paper.  Next, stamp and cut the sentiment into a heart shape.  Then, mix a palette of Autumn watercolor colors or colors for your stamping.  Also, die-cut or trim your background panel.  Next, add watercolor to the flowers and leaves with two colors per section.  Repeat if preferred for more vivid colors.  Once finished, heat set the background.  Then fussy cut (cut out) the flowers to make a card topper or border.  I used only part of the background for this card.  Finally, adhere a small background panel in ivory cardstock with flat double-sided tape.  Then, top with the sunflowers and the sentiment using foam tape.

Pocket card ~ note or gift card holder tutorial

Hello, Gaylynn here. For Technique Time at Unity, I am sharing a way to make a pocket card, folded for use as a note holder or as a gift card holder.
Simple folds can make unique cards, like this pocket card.

Helpful tips:

To begin, pre-cut and score the card base.
Cut cardstock to 4 1/4″ x 11″
Score at 5 1/2″ and 9″
Next, add tacky adhesive like Wonder Tape or Score Tape to the inside fold at the edges and also to the outer flap, to fasten them down.  Also, leave room for a trimmed note panel to fit inside.  Next, stamp and trim the sentiment script background piece and trim a frame layer from patterned paper.  Then, stamp the with love sentiment over the script panel.  Next, trim a note panel to fit inside the pocket.  Next, use repeat stamping on the note panel to add the pink flowers and green sprigs, for a top note border.  Finally, layer the pocket card base and accent with twine to finish.

Vellum embossing blue floral card border tutorial.

Hello.  Gaylynn here with my Technique Time series. Today, I am sharing vellum embossing and creating a blue floral card border.

This technique creates a soft look that can be used on its own or over a patterned background.  I used a premade background layer, but patterned paper would work also.

Sentiment:  The world needs more of you.
Helpful tips:
Here are helpful tips for creating the vellum embossing.  To begin, trim a premade background or use patterned paper.  Next, stamp the flowers with embossing or watermark ink onto quality vellum cardstock.  Also, I like Papertrey Ink vellum cardstock as it holds up to heat embossing.  Next, heat emboss the flowers using embossing powder with color.  I used blue.  Then, cut (fussy cut) around one side of the florals to make a card border.  Next, stamp and trim a sentiment panel.  Finally, adhere all of the layers to finish.

Challenge #6: Stamp A Border

CHALLENGE #6
on this World Cardmaking Day!
For this challenge we are going to
 stamp-a-border
.

BUT
.
.
 I want you to use a non-border stamp.
Basically, use any stamp (that’s not deemed a ‘border’ stamp)
 and create a border!

I made a border using the clouds stamp:
As you can see, I stamped two clouds in a grey ink and
the other in a black ink.  After hand-cutting each one, I attached the
two grey clouds directly to the card and the black cloud 
I attached with foam dots.
