Hello, it’s Gaylynn here with a third installment of my Watercolor Wednesday series, showing how to watercolor with Brusho, here on the Unity blog.
Watercolor with Brusho crystal colors along with emboss resist techniques creates striking results for card making, paper crafts, journaling or mixed media projects. For today’s card projects, I used these vibrant powders to create three backgrounds. This is showing another beautiful way to paint with watercolor along with stamping.

She as well as Delicate Wildflowers by Donna Downey
Here is a look at each of my handmade cards for today.
Sentiment: She designed a life she loved.
She colored her thoughts with only the brightest hues.
And the final card sentiment: She decided to start living the life she had imagined.
These are uplifting and inspirational cards. However, by switching out the sentiments, the technique will work for any occasion. My favorite part of the set are the beautiful flowers peeking through the watercolor background. In addition, I made a video tutorial for this project showing you the process from start to finish. It includes instructions along the way throughout the video, however, a written process follows below.

Stamp and emboss in white onto watercolor paper. Heat set and then trim or die-cut panels.
I used sprinkles of Brusho Crystal Color powders. But first, I placed tiny holes in the cap lids for application.
On the first card, I applied the powder to the dry paper. Then, I added water spray mist.
Water activates the color. It will also reactivate after it is dried. These colors are very vibrant.
Adding more water will soften the color. I chose to keep the colors bright. Dab with a paper towel to remove puddles.
For the second card, I added water to the paper first. Then I added powder. The colors did not move around as much as I had wanted. Therefore, I misted with more water.
For the third card, I repeated the same process as the first one.
The colors will stain, so be careful to protect your space and clothing. Refer to the product instructions.
Brusho Crystal Colors used: Turquoise, Emerald Green & Yellow. There are similar brands online. But, this is one that I own. I read about them via fellow design team member Mandi Mance.
Dry completely. Assemble the card layers, sentiments and embellishments.
