It’s Thursday already? Welcome back to another stamping therapy session! Today I am showing you the bleaching technique and two different ways to use bleach in stamping. I have a video tutorial showing both bleaching techniques and a ton of samples. I couldn’t get enough of this technique. So much fun. Here is a look at the cards I do in the video.
I used Bold Blossom kit and So Very Grateful sentiment kit.
Bleaching Technique- Two different ways to use bleach in stamping.
This is a fun and easy technique to use without having a bunch of extra supplies. You can color or stamp with bleach. The bleach gets weaker the longer it sits out. So you can’t reuse it. It needs to be fresh bleach. The brush I used is a cheap brush from Michaels. I only use it for bleach. The bleach will not hurt the rubber stamp. I wash mine right after use. So the bleach is not sitting on the rubber for very long.
Samples with the bleaching technique
Here is a bunch of samples using the same technique. I mixed up the colors to see how each color would bleach out. I used the same kits for this technique. Bold Blossom and So Very Grateful.
Same technique as in video with different colors. For the grey I used basic grey from Stampin Up. This technique will vary to how it bleaches out from color to color. Also different brands of card stock as well. Like Gina K’s grey card stock will not bleach the same as Stampin Up’s grey card stock. All of my samples, except for one, are done on Stampin Up card stock.
Both cards are in Stamin Up’s rich razzleberry and very vanilla card stock.
Both of these cards are done in Stampin Up’s forest foliage and mint melody. Unfortunately these are retired colors. Yes, I still have some in my stash! Paper hoarder for sure. Maybe you still have them too? There is probably similar colors out there for these.
This one was done with Stampin Up’s Bermuda bay, pool party, and whisper white.
The flower is stamped on Gina K’s charcoal brown. The background is Stampin Up’s pool party and distressed with Stampin Up’s early expresso, distress oxides fossilized amber, and distress oxide peacock feathers. I ink wiped all those colors to get that distressed background.
You can achieve so many different looks with one technique and one main stamp kit. I hope you found some inspiration with this fun and easy technique. If you try it out for yourself, tag me over on the Unity Show and Tell Facebook group. I would love to see what you make with this technique. If you missed last weeks stamping therapy post. Click here to take you to that blog post on making cards in different sizes. That is our time for today!
Thank you so much for joining me this Thursday.
Until next time, stamp on!
