Good morning! I’m back today for the weekly Monday feature for me here on the Unity Stamp Company Blog! So happy to be featuring the AMAZING Unity Kit of the Month set on Mondays here on the blog. These kits are always AMAZING, and they hold a special place in my heart since they were the first thing I purchased from Unity, and what got me hooked on Unity to begin with. Who DOESN’T love getting a happy package of stamps in the mail every month, right? And these kits just keep getting better and better. You can read all the details and info to sign up HERE, and see this month’s kit as well.
Today’s card uses one of the beautiful floral images in the March 2020 kit – and a bit of an unplanned technique! You can watch the video to see how it came about – but I love how it ended up finished looking almost like an impressionist painting – sometimes filming videos late at night works out well. Not always mind you, but sometimes!
Here is this week’s video detailing my process:
I started by stamping the image with soft gray ink on my pattern paper – wanted it to be just enough for me to see to color…
…it almost worked too well, since I really couldn’t see the image enough! So I did some quick messy coloring with just 4 Copic markers, then stamped and heat embossed in gold over the top.
I’m so glad I didn’t throw it out and start over – but I’m not gonna lie, the thought did cross my mind! Sometimes it is worth pushing through even after you think you’ve ruined something, am I right?
The sentiment was heat embossed in the same gold on some vellum to layer over the front to finish this off!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope to see you back here next week – have a wonderful week!
