Welcome to a world of fall grunge and ephemera galore. I am sharing this Fall ATC Folder on the Unity Blog today. The primary focus is the Embrace the Change stamp set from Unity Stamp Company paired with the gorgeous new Distress Mica Stains and Tim Holtz Sizzix Chapter 3 Dies. Check out this awesome stamp set, several new releases, and an amazing sale at Unity Stamp Company this week.
I find it very difficult to describe a step-by-step tutorial for this project as it came together organically. It started with several sheets of watercolor and mixed media paper and me just spritzing and smooshing them in the new Halloween Distress Mica Stains (Set 3 and 4). I stamped the outline leaves, fussy cut them and smooshed them with the mica sprays too.
Next, after watching the Tim Holtz live over the weekend, I was inspired to spritz the mica sprays on my craft mat and use that as an ink pad to stamp with my rubber stamps. So I had a stamping party with the Love and Wisdom stamps set and the solid leaves from the Embrace the Change stamp set. I tried it on kraft, watercolor, and mixed media paper and it looks amazing on all three papers. You can watch the reel on my Instagram page (@sanjuscreations) for a better idea of how the mica stamping shines in the light. Be warned, it is addicting!
Then, I die-cut the folder and ATCs, followed by ripping and distressing the different elements or ephemera I had created. I glued few pieces together and added stitching details using my sewing machine.
Finally, I assembled it all together and added finishing touches here and there. This includes using mini-paperclips to attach the ATC, dyeing some gauze with mica stains and adding those as well as some background stamping using a stamp from an older Unity KOM.
I thoroughly enjoyed this project and hope you like it as much as I do. This being my first attempt at something so elaborate in the mixed media/junk journalling space, I didn’t think to record it or take pictures along the way. If you would like to see the process please leave me a comment and I will try my best to record my next attempt. Thanks for stopping by, and have a wonderful day!
