Using leftover paper scraps ~ butterflies frame card

August 17, 2022 - by Gaylynn

Using leftover paper scraps ~ butterflies frame card

Hello, Gaylynn here.  Today, I am sharing an idea for using leftover paper scraps for card making.  I like to keep scraps that I think could easily be incorporated into future projects.

This layered card was fun to make with treasures from my box of paper scraps.

Sentiment:
With sympathy.  Wishing you peace in the midst of sorrow.

I made a quick video tutorial showing the process for this project.

Helpful tips:
In summary, here are helpful tips on how to make a card using leftover paper scraps in card making.  To begin, look through your stash for coordinating colors or patterns.  I found a previously die-cut piece of watercolor paper and some stamped butterflies from different stamp sets.  Next, if needed, color in the stamping to coordinate with the background colors.  Then, find and trim a stamped sentiment that you haven’t used which would work for your card.  Begin layering and building your card using flat and foam tape and also using glue.
For this example, I made a framed window using a pre-cut watercolor paper panel, trimmed to fit.  Then, I placed the butterfly in the background.  Also, I fussy cut (cut out) three smaller butterflies for pop-up accents.  Finally, everything was layered onto the card base, to finish.

Here is another look.

Now it is your turn to go through your paper scraps and find fun things to mix and match for a card or two.  Enjoy.
