Welcome to another weekly inspiration post for the April challenge of the month on the Unity Blog. Today I am sharing a vintage Mother’s Day card for the ‘grunge it up’ challenge theme. You can join the Unity Show and Tell group on Facebook and add your projects to the April challenge album to enter. My focal stamp today is from the Joy In Your Dreams stamp set which I designed for Unity. I also used stamps from the Eiffel Grunge (splatter and background text) and You Are My Person (sentiment) sets. Another key ingredient for today’s grunge factor is the Vintage Whispers {Paper Pack}. Check out these amazing stamp sets and more at Unity Stamp Company.
Vintage Mother’s Day Card
I started by stamping the Calendula from Joy In Your Dreams stamp set on matte photo paper. Then, I used Copic markers to color the flower and leaves. For the text background around the flower, I used the ‘bark’ colored Derwent Inktense color pencil to add color. This is a water-soluble ink pencil that dries to be permanent or waterproof. I ripped out the colored image so that it has rough edges.
Next, I trimmed down an A2 card panel from one of the patterns in the Vintage Whispers {Paper Pack}. I used my sewing machine to add some messy sewing around the panel. I ripped out 3 more pieces of pattern paper from this same pack to add as layers. I made one of the layers narrow and used it to stamp the sentiment.
Once I was happy with the arrangement of layers, I added more stamping details to the background using text and splatter stamps from the Eiffel Grunge stamp set. I finished off with a piece of jute twine and a mini-stapler to attach the sentiment strip to the panel.
Thank You
