Hello Crafty friends! I am excited to be back for a new week bringing you a mixed media tag using the beautiful Antique Poppy stamp set! I fell in love with this set the moment I saw it and was so excited to create with this set this week! There is so much detail within the stamp, it truly is so fun to work with! So let’s get started!
I started with a tag and 3 colors of distress oxide sprays. I used: Spun Sugar, Saltwater Taffy, and Weathered Wood. I start by adding the spray directly to the tag, drying with my heat tool, then adding water droplets and picking up color with a paper towel. I repeat this process several times by applying directly to the paper or applying the color to my work surface and dipping the paper into the color (following the steps above). I repeat this process a few times until I have the layers and texture I am looking for.
Next I stamped the large poppy from the Antique Poppy stamp set. I prepped the surface with my anti-static powder tool and stamped in Versafine Clair Ink in Nocturne and heat set with clear embossing powder. Next I colored in the poppy image using my Karkin markers. I also work in layers here, starting with my lightest and working to my darkest, allowing each layer to dry in between.
Once my coloring was complete, I added stamps in the background, as well as some ephemera. the ephemera was created using the Magical Motif stamp set, as well as the Antique Poppy stamp set. I added a sentiment from a Unity sentiment strip as well as a few splatters. The edges were distressed using gesso, as well as Hero Wax. I love this stamp set and I hope today’s project inspires you to create a mixed media background, as well as add ephemera to your projects!
I will be back next week to share another Mixed Media inspired project with you!
Have a great week – Crafty Hugs,
Natasha
