Hello crafty friends!
Today in the U.S it is National “Let’s Laugh” Day…. who knew?! Well, I live north of the border, but laughing is my favorite EVERY DAY…. so I thought why not dedicate my Blog post to laughter – the best medicine.
I always enjoy creating a card that brings a smile, a laugh or giggle… even a down-right good snort 😉  and Chicken In definitely makes me laugh.
This stamp really needs very little coloring – so it is great for a quick card. I used my Copics in E19, Y08 and Y11 and a little bit of blending. I also added a bit of ink blending with a Carta Bella stencil and Old Paper distress ink.
I haven’t made a mini-slimline card for quite awhile so that’s what I went with and sadly I did NOT get alot of process photos (I promise I will get better at this and maybe get wild and create a video).
What I can tell you is my measurements for my mini’s are always 3.5×6, so for a trifold card I began with a piece of patterned paper that is 10.5×6. Â I scored my card at 3.5 inches and then flipped it along the long side and scored it again so that all panels are roughly 3.5 inches. (you may have just a bit of overhang on one panel so in order to make sure your card doesn’t bulge, you may have to trim.) I ALWAYS practice with a piece of scrap before I commit so I don’t waste that precious patterned paper!
After adhering my image piece to the inside of the card, creating the peekaboo holes was a cinch. I created a template with a piece of plain copy paper (3.5×6) and lined it up on top of the chicken and traced my circle die – easy peasy.
One thing to note – decide which panel you want to open first – admittedly I am left-handed and typically I open a card left-flap first. The smaller circle die must be on your inside flap. I also wanted a different paper to show so another patterned paper layer was cut measuring 3.5×6 and adhered to the inside flap.
I had decided to use the sentiment on the outside of the card, and leave the middle portion blank. I used a rectangle stitched die that fit perfectly. Â It was just a matter of adding a bit of ephemera to the front, and I decided to add a some dimension, so I inked up another chicken and fussy-cut those big eyes to pop up on my card.
I really DID laugh out loud at this crazy bird! Those eyes!
I have been LOVIN’ all the funny/punny red rubber Unity has offered up lately and this bird will get a guaranteed smile out of anyone – smiling’s my favorite 😉
Peace, Love n Ink
