Hi everyone, Laurel here with another upcycled denim project. I know I have said it before, but I love to upcycle and denim has so many fun uses. For today’s project I created a fun bookmark.
The first thing I did was cut a strip off an old pair of jeans. I cut along the seam as I wanted that added interest in the bookmark. In this case, the denim was too dark for my liking so I used the reverse side.
When I was happy with the size, I went to work decorating it. First, I added a strip of plaid paper along the seam – plaid makes this country girl happy and well, it pairs nicely with old denim.
Unity is full of wonderful quotes and I like to incorporate them whenever I can. In this case I used one from the Stay Classy KOTM. I would love to hear what some of your favorite quotes are.
I love the Stitched Greeting stamp set and the images have the look I was going for with the stitched look so I had to use them 🙂
I just stamped and paper pieced them, then cut them out. Once I was happy with the placement, I stapled them on. The added texture and interest of the staples helps with the rustic look I am going for.
As a final touch, I cut various strips of twine and again just stapled on. A very quick and easy project that I am sure any reader would love.
