Happy Thursday! Welcome back to another stamping therapy session. Today I have a video tutorial for you on 3 ways to use gelatos with stamps. A little info on gelatos if you are not familiar with them. Gelatos made by Faber-Castell. They are quick and easy to use, and oh so versatile! Gelatos are acid-free, lightfast pigment sticks that come in a chapstick-like container. They’re creamy in nature which allows them to glide on your project smoothly producing a vibrant color that blends easily with just a little bit of water or rubbing with your fingers. Once gelatos dry they are permanent. This makes them a good option for mixed media projects and art journals since, they are archival.
It was so much fun playing with Unity stamps and gelatos!
Kits used:
Embrace You, Obsessed with Floral, Hello Beautiful, Jar of Mixed Sentiments, He’s a Wordy Buck.
3 ways to use gelatos with stamps
Here is how I made them into cards.
Technique #1- Gelatos direct to stamp
To finish this card up after I stamped the butterflies with the gelatos on regular white card stock. Stamp sentiment from He’s a Wordy Buck kit. Added some ink splattering with distress inks in cracked pistachio and salty ocean. I also splattered some diluted black acrylic paint. Distressed the edges and added a black mat. Then adhered to white card base.
Technique #2- Emboss resist using gelatos
Technically this was two techniques. Emboss resist and watercoloring with gelatos. But we are not counting right…lol. This one was easy to make into a card. I didn’t want to cover up to much of the florals. So, I just did some ink splattering in distress inks candied apple and walnut stain and added a embossed sentiment. Sentiment came from Jar of Mixed Sentiments kit.
Technique #3- Coloring with gelatos
I finished this card in the video but I will give instructions here as well. After I colored the embossed flower with gelatos. Fussy cut flower. Stamp image again onto card panel. With distress ink in black soot, stencil numbers in the background. Switching stencils. Stencil pattern randomly in distress ink candied apple. Glue colored and fussy cut flower to card front and add embossed sentiment. Sentiment came from Jar of Mixed Sentiments kit. Adhered to black card base.
I hope you found some inspiration on 3 ways to use gelatos with stamps. If you try this technique out for yourself, tag me over on the Unity Show and Tell Facebook group. I would love to see what you make with this technique. I love seeing your creations so much. If you missed last weeks stamping therapy post.
