Hello, it’s Gaylynn. Today, on the Unity blog, I am sharing watercolor on black watercolor paper with rose embossed stamping. I used new to me Finetec pearlescent colours for watercolor this time.
I love the richness and vibrant results using metallic or pearlescent watercolor on black watercolor paper. This effect shimmers beautifully in person.
Sentiment: Sending you flowers on your birthday.
I made a quick video tutorial HERE showing the process for this project.
This is a closer look.
Helpful tips:
These are helpful tips for using watercolor on black watercolor paper. To begin, apply powder with an antistatic tool then stamp and heat emboss the rose and leaves onto black watercolor aqua style paper. Also, stamp and trim a border and a sentiment. Next, add a couple of water droplets over the individual watercolor pans that you want to use, before watercoloring. Then, using a narrow brush, begin adding color over the stamping. Do this in one or more colors for the look that you want. Next, allow dry time or heat set the watercolor. Also, fussy cut (cut out) the stamped flower pieces. Finally, layer the trimmed panels and the flower pieces onto the card, to finish.
Here is a look at the metallic or pearlescent shimmer detail on this card.
