No-Coloring Cards

Happy Friday!  It’s Jules of Paper Gems by Jules back on the blog to share a no-coloring card idea I had using one of my favorite Sentiment Kits, Hello Fresh Start (Jan. 2021) and another favorite background stamp, Wonky Stripes Background.  These cards are simple to make and have lots of details.

To start, I stamp the Wonky Stripes background stamp onto white card stock.  I used Gina K Designs Innocent Pink ink and did it a few times to make it bold.  Next, I die cut it using the largest die of the Scallops & Rectangles Nesting Die set.  Using the same Innocent Pink Ink, I shaded in a piece of scrap and then stamped the sentiment using VersaFine Clair in Nocturne.  Using a black ink spray, I did some light splatters.

For the next layer, I stamped the floral from the Hello Fresh Start Sentiment Kit using VersaMark and Gold Nuvo Embossing Powder.  Next, I fussy cut the floral and used the stitched rectangle die from the nesting set. (Tip: When die cutting an edge on this floral, I let parts pop out so that they don’t get cut.)  I used the same die to trim down the sentiment as a banner, so they all have that stitched edge.  Adhere each piece with thin foam tape.

Using the same techniques, I made a second card with In the Navy Ink by Gina K.  Another added embellishment was gold string and complimentary sequins.  On this card, I added the floral image and sentiment on the left side.

These cards can be easily reproduced and have lots of detail without any coloring.  And how great is it that Unity has so many things that can create lots of layers.  Here’s a quick list of supplies:

  •  Hello Fresh Start Sentiment Kit (Jan. 2021)
  •  Wonky Stripes Background Stamp
  •  Scallops and Rectangles Nesting Dies
  •  Gold Nuvo Embossing Powder
  •  Gina K Designs Innocent Pink Ink
  •  Gina K Designs In the Navy Ink
  •  Pink Sequins
  •  Gold Sequins

Thank you so much for stopping by today and I hope you’ve found some inspiration.  Make sure to post any cards you make using these ideas on the Facebook {Show & Tell} page.

Until next time… have a Crafty Weekend!

Easy Valentines – Sent with Love

Happy Friday to all you crafty friends!  This is Jules of Paper Gems by Jules on the blog today and I’m here to help with some last minute Valentine’s Day cards. Valentine’s is right around the corner and you may want to send a little love out to friends and family, and this car is super easy to make!  Let’s check it out!

The supplies I used are as follows:

  • Do Not Bend Stamp Set
  • Frame This Alpha Stamp Set
  • Scallops and Rectangles Nesting Dies
  • GKD – Cherry Red Ink Cube
  • GKD – Innocent Pink Ink Cube
  • Black Licorice Luxury Card Stock
  • Black May Arts Burlap String
  • Random Red and Black Washi Tape

I started by die cutting all the pieces.  Next I stamped all the Xs and Ox using the two ink colors.  You can also use different colors or even hearts to create a different background.  The envelope was popped up with foam squares over the burlap string.

This card is not only easy to make, but also easy to mass produce if you’d like to send several cards with love.  Click below for the video tutorial.

Play with Masking Techniques!

Happy Friday Unies!

Charmaine with CharCards here to show you how to make three different cards with only two stamps! I am also sharing three different ways to mask your image to get three different results.

I am using the Another Name for Love stamp, designed by Gina K, that is just perfect for Mothers’ Day or a “just because” for mom cards. Let’s get started!

First, stamp the flower with Gina K Designs Black Amalgam ink, on three different A2 sized card stock. I use Neenah Solar Crest 110lbs paper because Copics glide well on this paper for me. Set aside the other two card stock pieces for now. Stamp the flower on masking paper and fussy cut the image. DO NOT REMOVE THE FLOWER STAMP FROM THE MISTI/PLATFORM!!

Next, cover the flower with masking paper and grab the “paint swipe” looking stamp from the set. I used Tangerine Twist from Gina K Designs ink for this card. Repeat this stamp all over the card front. You can easily stamp this freehand. Carefully remove the mask and set card front aside. Now to card number 2.

Take a blank 4.25 x 5.5 piece of card stock and die cut a hole to the side. This is another way to mask an image if you don’t have masking paper. Once covered, stamp the “paint” stamp with Sea Glass, also from Gina K Designs, in the circle you created. Remove the mask and let’s start on card 3!

Card number 3 combines all three masking techniques in one! Mask the flower for the last time and place the die cut circle over the flower. Repeat paint stamp with Peach Bellini (Gina K Designs). Remove the circle and place the other piece of the blank card stock that was die cut, over the card front. Repeat stamp with Butter (Lawn Fawn) over the masked flower.

Now you have three card fronts ready to color. I didn’t do any fancy coloring, because once colored, I heat embossed the flowers with either silver or gold. This is why you had to leave your stamp in the Misti. The image will line up perfectly with your previous stamp flower and make the flowers even more dramatic. Use Versamark and an anti static tool to keep the embossing powder where they are suppose to be! I used three of the sentiments from this stamp set and stamped them with the VersaFine Clair Green Oasis for a crisp imprint.

You can doll these cards up with a fancy stitched border or even pop the card up with dimensional foam tape. Experiment with “scripty” or “”wordy” background stamps over floral images for a dramatic look. I hope you try these cards and share them on the Unity Show and Tell Facebook page.

Have a great weekend!

Wreath Builder {birthday edition}

Hi Friends! Oh gosh I am SO excited to share with you something we’ve been working on for awhile here… The new Gina K + Unity Birthday Wreath Builder! Woot.

Birthday Go Round

If you have not tried one of Gina’s infamous wreath builder stamp sets– you totally must! We have one in our line already– and it’s one of my favorites: Circle of Friendship.

The great thing about the wreath builder stamp sets is that they are versatile, can be mixed and matched– and no two cards are ever alike!

I want to share with you a super simple way you can create a fun birthday card using this new wreath builder set and some two tone inking! It’s way easy and creates a super neat effect.

So– without further ado– check out this video:

I call this card the million candle card haha.. totally could be a fun challenge to stamp as many candles as the recipients age! haha.

Using the Gina K ink cubes instead of the larger sized inks make this two tone stamping a breeze! Look at those fun colors!

So… will you be adding Birthday Go Round to your stamp collection? It’s so much fun– and really does mix and match perfectly with the Circle of Friendship stamp set too!

Until next time.. Happy Stamping, friends!

XOXO

Spotlight Deco-Foil Background

Happy day, everyone! Whit here with something I am super excited about as of late. FOILING.

A few weeks back we attended Junkie Fest- a super fun crafting retreat. There were so many companies and amazing people there. My husband and I had to go around and meet everyone and try their products of course.

Day 2– something cool happened. I discovered Thermoweb and Foiling. And from the first second of pulling that pretty sparkle foil off of the paper I was hooked. So dang sparkly and fun! I am here to show you one way to use this magical product to add some sparkle and shine to your card creations.

So– join me below in my video where I explain how I created this card using THIS STAMP SET and how you can too!

So there you have it.. a fun way to create some sparkle on your next card creation 🙂

I hope that this inspired you today! Have a great day and happy crafting, friends.

XOXO,
