Scallop and Stitched Rectangle Dies

Clean and Simple with a Pop

Happy Friday crafty friends! Today I’m stamping with the new “Still Peckin’ Fabulous” set by Unity Stamp Company. This witty stamp set is great for those silly and sassy friends that love a good laugh on their birthday! Let’s get inky and inspired!

Let’s start with a color pallet. I went on Pinterest and looked up birthday color pallet and tada! The Copic markers used to correlate to these colors were: Y02, Y06, Y18, Y19, BG13, BG15, R21, R22, R14, R22… and I used C2, C0 for the feathers and floor and BG11 for the eyes and for the aura around the chickens.

For my first card, lets join these two silly birds. I didn’t mask them… oops! But that’s okay. Just go with the flow and color them. Clean and simple… and then die cut it using the Scallop & Rectangles die. I then Die cut a light teal for the scallop part.

This is clean and simple… but let’s add a little POP for fun! I stamped, colored and fussy cut the balloons from each of the chickens and adhered them using thin foam tape. And just like that, we’ve added subtle dimension to a clean and simple card. Let’s do some more!

For this next one… I stamped this chicken, but I stamped another one and fussy cut the gift out. I used thin foam tape and popped this one on too. Cute right? Let’s do one more!

For this one… let’s cut out the cake! It’s subtle little detail, but a great way to make the card a little extra special for that extra special person.

Products used:

  • Still Peckin Fabulous Stamp Set

  • Scallop & Rectangles Nesting Dies

  • Memento Tuxedo Black Ink

  • Cutter Bee Scissors

  • Thin Foam Squares

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you’ve found some inspiration. Until next time…

Happy Crafting!

Into the LIGHT

It’s Friday and I don’t know about you, but it’s been a week (maybe more like a month! ????). And if I can be honest, some days it’s harder to get out of that mental funk. Unity Stamp Company has just released a new stamp series called “Into the LIGHT {Lift, Inspire, Grow, Hope, Transform}” that helps us support one another through those hard times. The sentiments are filled with hope and coordinate with so many of the stamps you already have.

The new “You Don’t Have to be Okay” stamp set has several sentiments to choose from. I chose to use the “Just One More Chapter” stamp set (image is also in the July 2021 Kit of the Month) with one of these thoughtful sentiments. The image plays on the word “story.”

After stamping the images and coloring it in, I die cut the image with the Make-a-Tag die set. I added some shading and splatter to the edges. I wanted to incorporate the view that this sentiment is a global message, so I stamped green card stock with the “Let’s Be Off” background stamp using Shady Lane VersaFine Clair and die cut it with the Scallop & Stitched Rectangles die.

I added a few elements and this card was ready to send to anyone that needs a paper hug.

Unity products used:

  • You Don’t Have to be Okay stamp set

  • Just One More Chapter stamp set

  • Let’s Be Off Background stamp

  • Make-A-Tag die set

  • Scallop & Stitched Rectangle Nesting dies

As if this stamp series wasn’t meaningful enough, know that every purchase made from this new line “Into the LIGHT”, a 10% of will be donated to various mental health and addiction movements, as well as families facing these battles. So let’s all help pay it forward and make this world a better place for us all.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you’ve found some inspiration. Until next time…

Happy Crafting!

The Key to Joy

Happy Friday! This is Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules on the blog today with a simple card that was fun and easy to make! And this card was inspired by the recent announcement by our very dear friend Tim Holtz who is stepping down from designing products to just enjoy creating. His video definitely resonated a little with me. As a design team member, we are usually working with the next new stamp… which is awesome. Don’t get me wrong! I love it! But to Tim’s point, you tend to miss out on time with all the goodies you. have in your stash. Sooooo… let’s dive into this card and go down some of Unity’s memory lane of products!

Tim’s video reminded me to pull out some of my older products that maybe I had overlooked because I had moved on to. the latest thing. So while I love happy mail and getting new goodies, I really do love a lot of what I have and I need to ink it up!  So here’s what I used:

  • Squared Impressions Stamp Set
  • Scallop & Stitched Rectangles Nesting Dies
  • Dashes & Frills Heart Dies
  • June 2024 Whit Kit Sentiment Cut-Aparts

I had so many intentions with these Squared Impressions stamps because they are so versatile, but put them aside to get to the new stuff… but not this week! Let’s use these squares to show some love. Paired with a heart die, this instantly becomes a Valentine.

I wanted to keep this simple to highlight the squares, but also, to use some of my scraps. I pulled out some old red velum (I totally forgot I even had that! This is when a project usually gets derailed and I start something else.) and some craft paper from my scrap stash.

Last, I trimmed off a simple sentiment and added foam tape behind it for a little dimension. Super simple and fun!  And so easy to recreate for so many different occasions.

Thank you so much for much for stopping by and I hope you find some inspiration to craft with the old and the new goodies in your craft room.

Until next time… Happy Crafting!

Easy Masking Using Stamps

Happy Friday! This is Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules on the blog today. This week we’re kicking off the biggest sale season for Unity Stamp Company starting with Brown Thursday. Today, I’m highlighting the new Guided by Grace stamp set. This beautifully detailed stamp is not just for Christmas. We can all used some graceful guidance right now. I also want to share an easy masking technique.

After coloring this image, I used the 3-in-1 Stencil to create rays behind the angel using Squeezed Lemonade and Mustard Seed Distress Ink.

Once done with coloring, I place the stamp over the image and spray the Distress Mica Stain in Harvest Moon over the image. Make sure to clean the stamp before putting it away.

The mica spray gives a golden metallic shine in spots with a distressed look, but not covering up the image.

Let’s do another one!

Once you’ve stamped the image and colored it, make sure to clean the stamp and dry it before laying it over the image to splatter ink over the background.

Using the stamp, or even the backing of the stamp, will create a mask without any effort.

Unity products used:

  • Guided by Grace Stamp Set
  • Scallop & Stitched Rectangle Nesting Die
  • Big Scallop & Stitched Rectangle Nesting Dies
  • Scallop & Stitched Sentiment Die
  • 3-in-1 Stencil

Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you found some inspiration.  Until next time…

Happy Crafting!

Change is Beautiful

Happy Friday, Unies!  It’s Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules on the Blog today with the September 2024 Uniquely Unity Kit – Some Moments are Gold. It’s falling right into place as the leaves are finally changing in our area and the air is crisp.  This detailed leaf stamp has endless coloring opportunities with various color options to highlight this autumn season!

This kit comes with four beautiful sentiments that celebrate the season. I chose this particular one because it truly spoke to me. Last weekend we had a major change in plans to my son and his fiańce’s wedding plans and the initial feeling was shock and hopelessness. But the bride-to-be kept her chin up and held to her faith.

We all had to match her energy and in less than 48 hour, what could have seemed to anyone else as a catastrophe was made to feel like a slight pivot.  And we all think this change might just be more beautiful than before!

Now, back to the cards. I use the same layout for both cards, but changed the leaves colors on each and matched the background paper from the September 2024 Whit Kit called Fall Watercolor Splendor Paper Pack to highlight their colors.

For the clouds, I used the cloud stencil from the September 2024 Whit Kit, but you can also use the Cloud & Wave stencil as well!

This past weekend reminded me to embrace the changes that come with life, good and bad. Embrace them with gratitude and find the good. Yes, fall is when the leaves fall because they are dying, but there is beauty in that change and those vibrant colors are signs of and ending of a season. Celebrate the moments of your life.

Unity products used:

  •  September 2024 Uniquely Unity – Moments are Golden
  •  September 2024 Whit Kit – Cloud Stencil
  •  September 2024 Whit Kit – Fall Water Color Splendor Paper Pack
  •  Scallop & Stitched Rectangle Nesting Dies

Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you found some inspiration.  Until next time…

Happy Crafting!

OMG Pop Out Pissy Kitty

Happy Friday! Okay, well this Pissy Kitty might not be happy, but you’ll be happy when you see the recipient of this card laugh at how cute this moody cat is. This is Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules on today’s blog featuring the latest stamp in the Pissy Kitty series called “Ho Ho No – Pissy Kitty” and he’s just not feelin’ Santa today.

This fun pop out card, is super easy to make using Unity’s nesting dies.

  • Scallop & Stitched Nesting Rectangle Dies
  • Scallop & Stitched Nesting Circle Dies
  • Scallop & Stitched Nesting Sentiment Dies

Next, I stamp and fussy cut the Pissy Kitty and fussy cut him out. In order to have his naughty paw sticking out, I cut the paw sides out so that it could be slid on the outside of the circle. I trimmed the bottom of the paw to not have the white outline hanging like the rest of the cat.  I also stamped and die cut the sentiment.

The rest is easy peasy! I used some holiday pet patterned paper that I had in my stash to layer the background and used the Whimsy Stamps OMG Word Die to add a little drama for this Pissy Kitty.

For some final details, I used a white Posca marker to add highlights to the OMG. And OMG this cat is too cute, even with that moody face!

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you found some inspiration. Until next time…

Happy Crafting!
